Se acaba la Premier League, y tuvimos que esperar hasta la última fecha para definir un campeón. Por eso, los dos partidos más importantes hoy son los que tendrán ambos candidatos al título. Vamos a repasarlos y comentar qué tiene que pasar para que cada uno sea el campeón. Ya los puestos de descenso están definidos. Pero comentaremos sobre ese anhelado quinto puesto que da acceso a la Europa League y aún no tiene dueño. Empecemos.
MANCHESTER CITY vs. WEST HAM
MANCHESTER CITY es el actual número uno en la tabla gracias a la victoria que obtuvo en Londres ante el Tottenham 0-2 en la última fecha, extendiendo su racha positiva a ocho victorias seguidas, dejando su portería invicta en cuatro veces en ese período. Llega con la esperanza de volver a ganar en casa, donde ésta temporada nadie lo ha podido vencer. Ha ganado 44 de los 54 puntos que ha jugado en ese escenario, y por eso hay mucho optimismo de coronarse en su propio estadio. Con todo, Kevin De Bruyne es duda para participar en éste encuentro. Quien definitivamente no estará es el portero Ederson en vista de su lesión. Por eso, Ortega Moreno será el que se ponga los guantes. Por cierto, fue quien tuvo tremendas salvadas en el partido frente a los spurs, salvando la caída de ese primer puesto de la tabla. ¿Qué necesitan los ciudadanos para ser campeón? 1) Ganar el encuentro, y así dejará sin opción al Arsenal. 2) Si empata, que el Arsenal no gane. 3) Si pierde, que el Arsenal no gane.
WEST HAM ganó en casa frente al Luton 3-1 en el fin de semana pasado, rompiendo su racha de cuatro partidos sin ganar. Actualmente es el noveno en la tabla, y parece que no está en excelentes condiciones como para enfrentar al poderoso Manchester City en su estadio, donde ya vimos que nadie le ha ganado ésta campaña. Aunado a eso, los hammers tienen un 50% de derrotas hasta ahora cuando han jugado de visitante. Con todo, el experimentado David Moyes ha dicho de que buscarán ganar el partido, porque es lo que buscan semana a semana como miembros del club londinense, y no porque estén deseando que gane o pierda el título los ciudadanos, o gane o pierda el título Rice (un ex jugador del West Ham). Bowen, Ward-Prowse y Soucek estarán a cargo del medio campo y tendrán mucho trabajo en contener al rival. Se ha recordado mucho últimamente el pasado en común que tiene Arteta con el técnico del West Ham, volviendo a unirlos en el día de hoy en una situación que podría darle otra alegría al técnico español, al equipo y la afición. ¿Qué se necesita para que el Arsenal sea campeón? Sencillo: que Arsenal gane y Manchester City pierda. Sólo eso.
EVERTON está en la decimo quinta posición gracias a la victoria que obtuvo frente a las espadas 1-0. Es impresionante lo que ha logrado el entrenador Dyche haciendo que el equipo sobreviva al descuento de puntos por parte de la liga y aún así pueda haber escapado del descenso con una distancia decente. Además, en los últimos cinco encuentros ha ganado cuatro y empatado uno, permitiendo un gol en contra y dejando su portería invicta en cuatro ocasiones, por cierto, en todas las que jugó en su estadio. Por eso, están tranquilos que verán Premier League el año que viene independientemente del resultado que saquen en Londres hoy. ¿Tendrán el mismo entrenador el año que viene? Ya veremos, puesto que algunos lo han puesto en duda en vista de la situación polémica que aún tiene el club y su administración.

CHELSEA vs. BOURNEMOUTH
CHELSEA ganó en el nido de las gaviotas el pasado fin de semana 1-2 adueñándose del sexto lugar con pasaporte a la Conference League. Sin embargo, alberga la posibilidad de meterse en el quinto puesto y con él el derecho de competir en la próxima Europa League. Actualmente ese quinto puesto lo tiene el Tottenham, con tres puntos de diferencia. Para que le Chelsea logre este objetivo tiene que ganar su partido y esperar que los spurs sean vencidos. Sólo así es que podrían igularlos en puntos y superarlos por el primer criterio de desempate, como lo es la diferencia de goles. La ventaja es que el equipo juega en su estadio, con una afición entusiasmada por la última racha que ha tenido, con cuatro victorias seguidas (incluída dos porterías invictas). Además, recientemente hemos visto a jugadores hablando bien de su entrenador argentino, diciendo que creen en él y quiere que se quede, así que, si de verdad ese es el sentimiento predominante en el equipo, saldrán motivados a ganar y esperar lo mejor en ésta última fecha.
****BOURNEMOUTH** fue vencido en casa frente al Brentford 1-2, siendo su segunda derrota seguida y es el actual decimo primer lugar de la tabla de posiciones. El entrenador Iraola extendió su unión con el club y hay mucho optimismo alrededor, en vista del mal arranque que tuvo en la campaña y cómo está finalizando ahora. Recordemos que el Bournemouth tuvo su primera victoria en la jornada 10 del campeonato. Luego, pudo salir de la zona de descenso el 11 de noviembre del 2023 y pudo mantenerse fuera de peligro desde ese momento. Habrá un interesante verano para éste modesto equipo que de seguro querrá mover algunas fichas para seguir en la máxima categoría del fútbol inglés. Sin embargo, al visitar Stamford Bridge podemos ver que de visitante han tenido un 50% de derrotas en toda la campaña.
Éstos dos se han enfrentado seis veces en Stamford Bridge, dejando tres victorias por cada lado y nunca han empatado. En el partido anterior entre ambos ésta campaña no pasaron del empate sin goles.
EL JUGADOR
MICKY VAN DE VEN es uno de los mejores centrales que han llegado recientemente al torneo. A pesar de haberse perdido algunos partidos por lesión, cada vez que está en el terreno de juego es evidente su calidad al defender y en los pases largos, traspasando las líneas defensivas del rival y provocando ocasiones de gol. Su fortaleca física hace de que con frecuencia esté ganando los duelos personales. De modo que es uno de los llamados a hacer su trabajo efectivamente en ésta última jornada para evitar que su equipo pierda la oportunidad de competir en la Europa League. El Tottenham necesita ganar para no depender de otros resultados para éstar presente en dicha competición continental. Su rival: Sheffield United.
