In my last article, I wrote that there are many trees with white flowers in the park.
After finishing lunch, I walked around the park looking at those trees while taking a walk.
I was a little surprised to see how big all the trees in this park had grown.
I even got to see the giant zelkova tree that has become the symbol of this park.
Looking across the pond from under the wisteria trellis, I saw this view.
The clouds are clearing and the blue sky is spreading rapidly.
I could see swan boats waiting in the distance.
We will now walk clockwise around the pond, past the barbecue area and the decamping area, to the swan boats.
There were a lot of people in the barbecue and decamping area and many were in a good mood, drinking beer and very excited which surprised me.
It was ridiculously busy, so I hurried past.
From there we walked for a while and came to the center of Green Park.
There was a spacious grassy area here, and again several groups were relaxing in the shade of trees with leisure seats.
It was a lazy, sunny afternoon in the park. It was a wonderful view.
It is now visible in the center of the grass plaza.
That large tree is the big zelkova tree, which is said to be the symbol of this green park.
The bigger the space around the tree, the more branches it spreads and the bigger it grows, so the appearance of the tree does not always completely match its age. In fact, this zelkova is said to be 97 years old, which is not very old for a large zelkova tree.
There are many famous zelkova trees throughout Japan, some of which have been confirmed to be nearly 1,000 years old.
I hope this zelkova tree is in good health and will continue to grow and become a symbol of the area.
Next time I come back, I will bring a leisure sheet and eat my lunch under the shade of the zelkova tree.
I crossed the lawn square and came to the other side of the large zelkova tree, where there was another large tree and plenty of shade.
I was careful not to reflect other people when taking pictures so it looks like an uninhabited park, but it is not, and there were many people relaxing in the shade of the trees outside of this place.
This is a "Hitotsubatago" tree, which blooms abundantly with pure white flowers during this time of the spring holidays.
It is a rare tree that grows naturally in limited areas in Japan (Tsushima, Nagasaki Prefecture, Nagano Prefecture, Gifu Prefecture, and Aichi Prefecture), but recently it seems to be planted as a roadside tree in various areas unexpectedly.
Of course, in this case, the tree is not "native" but artificially planted.
In its native habitat, it is designated as a national natural monument, and I have also seen areas where it actually grows in clusters are protected.
It was amazing. The flowers were so white that it looked as if snow had already piled up.
When "Hitotsubatago" is in full bloom, it looks like this, and it was truly magnificent.
There are several trees that bloom white flowers (or sepals that look like flowers) during this season, and "false acacia" is famous as a tree that grows large.
Other trees include the "yamaboshi", "hanamizuki", "utsugi", "sharinbai", etc...
White flowers really go well with the freshness of early summer.
I continued our leisurely walk through the park, past the rose garden, through the camellia garden, and directly opposite the wisteria trellis where we had lunch. There was another large, magnificent tree here. This is a camphor tree.
There is a subway station near the exit of the park.
It is a subway line that can take me to near my home without any transfers.
It is convenient to use public transportation.
It always helps me when I am climbing a mountain and can take public transportation to near the trailhead.
I rode the subway home after this without incident.
I walked from the first riverbed park to Ryokuchi Park on a whim, and it turned out to be a very nice holiday.

前回の記事で「公園内に白い花を咲かせている木がたくさんある」と書きました。
ランチを食べ終わって、公園散歩をしながらそれらの木々を見て歩きました。
この公園の木はどれも大きく育っていてちょっとびっくりするくらいでした。
私はこの公園のシンボルとなっている巨大なケヤキも見ることができました。
藤棚の下から池の向こうを見るとこんな景色でした。
どんどん雲が晴れていって、青空がぐんぐん広がっています。
向こうの方にスワンボートが待機しているのが見えます。
これから池を時計回りにぐるっと周り、バーベキュー場とディキャンプエリアを通り過ぎて、スワンボートがある方まで歩きます。
バーベキュー場とディキャンプエリアにはたくさんの人がいて、多くの人がビールを飲んでいい気分になっていて、私はびっくりしてしまうくらいとても盛り上がっていました。
とんでもなく賑やかだったので慌てて通り過ぎてきました。
そこからしばらく歩いて、緑地公園の中央までやってきました。
ここに広々とした芝生広場があって、ここでもいくつかのグループがレジャーシートをして木陰でくつろいでいました。
のんびりとした晴れた公園の午後です。素晴らしい景色でした。
芝生広場の中央に見えてきました。
あの大きな木が、この緑地公園のシンボルと言われている大ケヤキです。
木は周囲の空間が広ければどんどん枝を広げて大きくなるので、見た目と樹齢が完全に一致するわけではありません。実際、このケヤキは樹齢97年だそうで、ケヤキの大木のなかではそれほど高齢ではないのです。
日本各地にはたくさんのケヤキの名木があって、樹齢1,000年近いものも確認されています。
このケヤキも健康な状態で、まだまだどんどん大きく育って、シンボルであり続けてほしいなぁと思いました。
今度来る時はレジャーシートを持ってきて、ケヤキの木陰でお弁当を食べようと思います。
芝生広場を横切ってケヤキの大木の反対側へ来ると、ここにも大きな木があって、木陰が充実していました。
写真を撮る時は他の人が映り込まないように注意したのでまるで無人の公園のように見えますが、そんなことはなく、この場所以外で木陰でくつろいでいる人はたくさんいました。
これは「ヒトツバタゴ」という木で、春の連休のこの時期に真っ白な花をたっぷり咲かせます。
日本では限られた地域（長崎県対馬・長野県・岐阜県・愛知県）に自生する珍しい樹木だということですが、最近では意外と色々な地域に街路樹として植えられているようです。
もちろん、この場合は「自生」ではなく、人工的に植えられたものです。
自生地では国の天然記念物に指定されていて、実際に群生しているエリアは保護されているのを私も見たことがあります。
すごいです。もう雪が積もったかのように真っ白に咲いていました。
「ヒトツバタゴ」が満開のときはこんなふうになりますが、本当に見事でした。
この季節に白い花（または花のように見える萼など）を咲かせる木はいくつかあって、木が大きく育つものとしては「ニセアカシア」は有名です。
他には「ヤマボウシ」や「ハナミズキ」や「ウツギ」や「シャリンバイ」などなど…
初夏の清々しい季節に白い花は本当に似合います。
公園の中をのんびりと歩き続け、バラ園を通り抜け、ツバキ園を通り抜けて、ランチを食べた藤棚の場所から真反対側まで歩いてきました。ここにも大きくて立派な木がありました。これはクスノキです。
公園の出口を出るとすぐ近くに地下鉄の駅があります。
私の自宅近くまで乗り換えなしで行くことができる地下鉄路線です。
公共交通機関を利用できるのは便利です。
山登りの時も、登山口付近まで公共交通機関で行けるときはいつも助けられています。
この後地下鉄に乗って何事もなく帰宅しました。
思いつきで最初の河川敷公園から緑地公園まで歩きましたが、とても良い休日になりました。

電車で行って、たっぷり歩いて、地下鉄で帰宅できる、街中歩きのベストパターンです。
