W trakcie wyjazdu do Szkocji wydarzyło się coś, czego nie planowaliśmy. Pierwszego dnia wyjazdu z samego rana otrzymałem wiadomość od pośrednika zajmującego się wynajmowanym przez nas mieszkaniem, że właściciel zdecydował się je sprzedać. Prawo w Belgii wymaga w takim wypadku zapytać wynajmującego, czy nie jest zainteresowany zakupem. Zamiast cieszyć się w pełni ze zwiedzania Edynburga, musieliśmy w krótkim czasie rozważać dość trudną decyzję, do tego te zabójcze koszty notarialne. Jeżeli pamiętacie wcześniejsze wpisy, tak mniej więcej sprzed roku to zapewne pamiętacie, że nosiłem się z zamiarem kupna mieszkania w Belgii, później zapał opadł, ale pomysł został w głowie. Decyzja właściciela mieszkania zmusiła mnie do działania, jeżeli wszystko pójdzie zgodnie z planem, to w ciągu kilku miesięcy zamieszkamy na swoim, bez ruszania się z miejsca. Widmo kolejnej przeprowadzki też zaważyło na tej decyzji.
[ENG] During the trip to Scotland, something happened that we had not planned. On the first day of the trip, first thing in the morning, I received a message from the estate agent in charge of the apartment we were renting that the landlord had decided to sell it. The law in Belgium requires landlord to ask the tenant if he is interested in buying. Instead of enjoying our sightseeing in Edinburgh to the full, we had to make a rather difficult decision at short notice. If you remember previous posts, about a year ago, you may recall that I was toying with the idea of buying an apartment in Belgium, then the enthusiasm waned, but the idea stayed in my head. The decision of the owner of the apartment forced me to act; if everything goes according to plan, we will be living on our own within a few months, without moving. The spectre of another move also weighed on this decision.
Poniedziałek był dniem wolnym w Belgii, dzień wcześniej córka przyjechała do nas, a wczoraj odwieźliśmy ją do Brukseli. Była to okazja do krótkiego spaceru po centrum. W okolicach Grand Place mnóstwo turystów, ładna pogoda sprzyjała zwiedzaniu miasta. Grupa klaunów zabawiała dorosłych i dzieci, widzieliśmy ich już wcześniej w okolicach dworca Bruksela Centrala, a później na Grand Place.
[ENG] Monday was a day off in Belgium, the day before our daughter came to visit and yesterday we took her to Brussels. It was an opportunity for a short walk in the centre. The area around the Grand Place was full of tourists, the nice weather was good for exploring the city. A group of clowns entertained adults and children, we had seen them earlier near Brussels Central Station and later on the Grand Place.
Bruksela nie byłaby Brukselą bez żadnego protestu lub demonstracji, wczoraj trafiliśmy na grupę Białorusinów, którzy protestowali wobec reżimu Łukaszenki. Na plakatach prezentowali zdjęcia więźniów politycznych niesłusznie oskarżonych i skazanych. Zainteresowanie tą demonstracją było znikome.
[ENG] Brussels wouldn't be Brussels without some sort of protest or demonstration, and yesterday we came across a group of Belarusians protesting against the Lukashenko regime. Their placards showed pictures of political prisoners who had been wrongly accused and sentenced. There was little interest in this demonstration.

Indeed, the buildings there look quite luxurious. Of course I really like being able to see buildings with truly extraordinary buildings.
