Hello Hive! 🌟 I hope you are all doing well and that your life is filled with happiness. And if the sky above you is a bit gray at the moment, remember that clouds are fleeting.
With @altheana, we are progressing on the caravan floor. The old floor of the "bedroom" has been repaired and we have finished laying the new 18mm OSB on top of it.
So now, it's time for the laminate flooring!
Before laying the laminate flooring, we installed an insulating layer on the OSB. This will make our footsteps quieter and also slightly improve the insulation.
It might even help keep moisture at bay, although I think we'll always have some. But on the other hand, we are less than 2 meters from a stream and 5 meters from a pond. Moreover, we are under trees.
In the caravan, there are the wheel arches. To make sure we cut our flooring correctly around these areas, we took a mold of our insulation to cut it into the right shape.
Then, we managed to trace the shape with a pencil onto the board we were installing.
This was certainly the most challenging part.
Another difficult step was fitting the flooring in what will later be a closet. Here, it had to fit to the millimeter. However, between the width of our pencil lead and the width of the jigsaw blade, we had to redo it several times.

We still need to find an economical way to redo the walls and hide the wheels, but it's taking shape! Especially since the laminate flooring was the first thing we bought to set up our tiny house in January 2024.
We thought we would do it quickly, but there have been many delays on this project (strengthening the concrete slab in the first room, creating a floor in the first room, repairing the caravan floor, etc.).
We have to go back to Normandy for a few days to get one of our cars through its technical inspection and to be there for the birthday of my partner's parents. But the next step in our tiny house will be to paint the walls white in the first room.
We've already bought the paint we needed. So, we'll start by washing the walls, applying masking tape everywhere, and then painting!
