Muchos de nosotros hemos tenido un sueño por cumplir, algo que termine con la frase “mi sueño se ha hecho realidad”. Pero también hay otros que tenemos ciertos temores y miedos resguardados en nuestro interior, que en contraste a lo primero sería como una pesadilla, algo que solo queremos que pase en nuestra imaginación. ¿En cuál escenario te has sentido últimamente? ¿Hay algo que te haya hecho sentir muy feliz, o por el contrario ha sido algo parecido a una pesadilla?
Pues bienvenidos a la mía, porque para mí no existe algo tan terrible como un día sin música. ¿Les ha pasado? Pero tranquilos, en mi caso no llegó a cumplir las veinticuatro horas, aunque bastó solo un determinado tiempo para poder imaginar lo que sería un día, una semana o hasta mucho tiempo más sin poder disfrutar del encanto de la música. Quizás pensar en semejante planteamiento nos impulsa a una actitud rebelde y repelente ya que hay muchos que necesitamos la música para todo, hasta para hacer los oficios en casa, pero esa pesadilla no está tan lejos de hacerse realidad.

But don't worry, in my case it didn't last twenty-four hours, although it only took a certain amount of time to be able to imagine what a day, a week or even much longer without being able to enjoy the charm of music would be like. Perhaps the thought of such an approach drives us to a rebellious and repellent attitude, since there are many of us who need music for everything, even to do our chores at home, but that nightmare is not so far from becoming a reality.
¿Cómo llegué a esta idea? Para los que estamos en un país con un problema eléctrico cada vez más y más grave, les será más fácil entender el punto. Realmente ha sido toda una odisea poder contar con un buen servicio eléctrico, y muchos hemos tenido que adaptarnos a cambios no anunciados y constantes cortes en horarios puntuales de nuestros días. Sin caer en lo pesimista o negativo, veo que la cosa va de mal en peor. ¿Y que tiene que ver esto con la música?
Hace poco estuvimos casi todo un día sin luz, en los cuales la ausencia de la música es notable, por ejemplo en mi casa. Normalmente si no es el radio es la computadora, y sino pues el teléfono funciona como el medio para escuchar buenas canciones. Pero, al pasar las horas, ya ni siquiera el teléfono sirve para eso, y de pronto te encuentras en un vacío donde reconoces que falta algo: la música. Tratas de leer, hacer algo en casa o escribir sobre un tema en particular, mientras tu mente insiste en recordar que falta eso que te da el ánimo y la inspiración necesaria.
How did I arrive at this idea? For those of you who live in a country with an increasingly serious electricity problem, it will be easier to understand the point. It has really been an odyssey to be able to count on a good electric service, and many of us have had to adapt to unannounced changes and constant outages at specific times of our days. Without being pessimistic or negative, I see that things are going from bad to worse. And what does this have to do with music?
Recently we spent almost a whole day without electricity, in which the absence of music is noticeable, for example in my house. Normally, if it is not the radio, it is the computer, and if not, the telephone works as a means to listen to good songs. But, as the hours go by, not even the phone serves for that, and suddenly you find yourself in a vacuum where you recognize that something is missing: music. You try to read, do something at home or write about a particular topic, while your mind insists on remembering that the thing that gives you the necessary encouragement and inspiration is missing.
¿Cantar? Hasta mis vecinos optan por esa opción, aunque pareciera más bien como un medio para drenar el estrés de pasar tanto tiempo sin el servicio eléctrico. Así van pasando y pasando las horas, y ya no ves el momento en el que llegue la luz para poder disfrutar de buena música. Cinco, seis y hasta más horas parecen irse con la lentitud que aporrea tu aguante y juega con tu paciencia, y entonces por un instante de meditación llegas a pensar en lo siguiente: “¿Te imaginas una vida sin música?” Es que solo pensarlo ya me genera una preocupación bastante incómoda y difícil de digerir.
Incluso tener el servicio eléctrico no garantiza que puedas disfrutar y escuchar música de manera tranquila. ¿Por qué? En mi caso, resulta que tener luz en casa significa que la han quitado en otra zona, y eso no nos libra de otros problemas. La mayoría de las emisoras pierden la señal y el internet también empieza a fallar, mientras que las líneas telefónicas se tornan algo irregular hasta para enviar un simple mensaje de texto. Así que con ambos escenarios nada cómodos, la pregunta que plantee hace poco no es del todo descabellada ni mucho menos exagerada.

And so the hours go by and the hours go by, and you can't see the moment when the light will come on to enjoy good music. Five, six and even more hours seem to go by with the slowness that pummels your stamina and plays with your patience, and then for a moment of meditation you come to think the following: "Can you imagine a life without music?" It's that just thinking about it already generates in me a rather uncomfortable and hard-to-digest worry.
Even having electric service does not guarantee that you can enjoy and listen to music in a peaceful way. Why? In my case, it turns out that having power at home means that it has been taken out in another area, and that doesn't free us from other problems. Most radio stations lose signal and the internet also starts to fail, while phone lines become a bit spotty even to send a simple text message. So with both scenarios not at all comfortable, the question I posed recently is not at all far-fetched or even far-fetched.
Aún así, uno hace lo que puede con lo que tiene. Algo que trato de hacer es mantener el teléfono con carga suficiente, y en momentos de corte eléctrico por lo menos tengo para escuchar varias canciones. Para esto, suelo grabar algunas y guardarlas para tenerlas a la mano incluso si el internet o la misma señal no funcionan bien. También trato de aprovechar momentos en los que estoy en casa y mientras me ocupo en algunas cosas, coloco una emisora que a lo largo del día comparte un set musical muy variado y de buen gusto. Cuando los cortes de luz no son de noche, suelo aprovechar aún más y en ocasiones me acuesto un poco tarde pero escuchando muchos temas musicales.
Tal como muchas películas se han inspirado en un posible mundo sin agua, sin oxígeno, sin luz, pues fácilmente podemos sacar una película o hasta una canción sobre lo que sería un mundo sin música, algo tan desagradable como cualquiera de los temas que se han mencionado. Aunque el punto en cuestión es que la música jamás dejará de sonar, y aunque los medios colapsen, siempre habrá una forma de poder disfrutar de esas canciones que forman parte de nuestra vida, dándonos las fuerzas y la inspiración para seguir adelante sin renunciar a nuestro amor por la música.
Still, you do what you can with what you have. One thing I try to do is to keep my phone sufficiently charged, and in times of power outage at least I have enough to listen to several songs. For this, I usually record some and save them to have them at hand even if the internet or the signal itself does not work well. I also try to take advantage of moments when I'm at home and while I'm busy with some things, I put on a station that throughout the day shares a very varied and tasteful musical set. When the power cuts are not at night, I usually take advantage even more and sometimes I go to bed a little late but listening to many musical themes.
Just as many movies have been inspired by a possible world without water, without oxygen, without light, we can easily make a movie or even a song about what would be a world without music, something as unpleasant as any of the topics that have been mentioned. Although the point in question is that music will never stop playing, and even if the media collapse, there will always be a way to enjoy those songs that are part of our lives, giving us the strength and inspiration to move forward without giving up our love for music.

Sin duda, es difícil superar el no tener electricidad, yo para esos casos tengo mi radio de emergencia (tiene luz, se carga con energía solar y tiene un dinamo para cargar su pila manualmente y ademas también tiene un puerto usb y para apple , para poder cargar cualquier dispositivo), y así paso mi dia escuchando musica mi estimado.
Es un fastidio estar sin luz, cuando no tenia radio, me ponía a jugar rol, y en eso me entretenia, o bien me ponía a escribir en una hoja un relato y en eso se me pasaba el tiempo, es una labor muy entretenida, y consume muchísimo tiempo.
