Can’t believe we’re back to Tuesday!

Southeast Asian upcoming & hit singers

This Tuesday, I’d like to introduce you to some Southeast Asian upcoming & hit singers. They are spanning across different nations all around SouthEast Asia but their songs are known across countries within the region.

Growing up, SEA music has not been in my list of listening but during the pandemic and around, especially during tiktok era, myself and a lot of us, discovered some awesome talented musicians that their music is just really good for vibing, dancing or just easy listening. While we don’t speak the same languages, somehow these music also helps us noticing similarities that around SEA, we shared similar cultures and some, even shared similar languages.

Let’s start with

🇵🇭 Philippines, Zack Tabudlo

If you’re from the Philippines, you must be somewhat familiar with his name. I discovered Zack through his song Pano that was popular on tiktok and all across instagram and I started listening to all of his discography. I was instantly a fan because he has this unique smooth voice to it. His songs are also catchy and melodic.

In SEA, he was also collaborating with a hit Indonesian singer, Tiara Andini. If you’re new to Zack, I would recommend listening to pano, gusto and by my side, where he’s collaborating with Tiara Andini and the song is also in English.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably know I am a fan of Zack!

🇲🇲 Myanmmar Yung Hugo

in Myanmar apparently its gen z listens to variations of hip hop rap, rnb. I came to know the scene from a Burmese girl I met in thailand. She is a gen Z and introduced me to Yung Hugo. He has this Korean style hip hop style and the beat is a mix of techno RnB. He also sings a mix in burmese and english that makes this song awesome to listen to even if you don’t understand the language. When I was in Thailand, my friend translated the song and recommended some like Just Friend & OOTD. I ended up following this artist on instagram. You’d be surprised by another side from Myanmar that you don't get to see on the news.

🇻🇳 Vietnam SƠN TÙNG M-TP

Vietnam has plenty of singers that are also known globally like Thuy, who is of Vietnamese origin. But among the sea of singers that are from Vietnam like Min, who collaborated with Thuy in Girls like me don’t cry, I still have the need to introduce SƠN TÙNG M-TP. Just as you see below, he has 10 M followers on his youtube. This CHÚNG TA CỦA TƯƠNG LAI is his newest work. It sounds very refreshing compared to his old discography that I shared on the next video.

I first found his song CHẠY NGAY ĐI where he features Thailand actress/model as the model in his video. This is one of his best work and you definitely can dance to it. Though I think the speed up version is a lot better than the normal version below.

He even once duet with Snoop Dogg& it’s something that was pretty unexpected. I don’t really like the song because it is that typical pop hip hop but you can check it out below. The english version title is give it to me and Snoop Dogg came around 4:22 minutes.

🇹🇭 Thailand, HYBS

Thailand has a lot of singers that are famous all around SEA. There are many upcoming soloists and even bands from there that are hits and with the rise of Thai pop culture, these artists are also getting more limelight but there’s one in the RnB genre that needs to be highlighted, HYBS. They are a duo who’s song was also viral on tiktok and instagram. They have aesthetic music videos and don’t worry even if you don’t speak Thai, they have songs like Run Away that are sung in English.

If you’re someone like me who enjoys a random playlist, you must have heard one of their songs like tiptoe. I personally love this one too and give it a try because they’re also 100% in english.

🇮🇩 Indonesia, Tulus

Much like Thailand, Indonesia has plenty of awesome musicians and artists. Some indonesians are also known globally like Rich Brian, Nikki and Stephanie poetri but there’s one indie singer that is so well-known across the country. The music is often played in coffee shops and I decided to highlight this guy named Tulus. He has easy listening music and his lyrics are poetic. He has every music for every occasion in your life. However, my most favorite one is sewindu. It was released 12 years ago but somehow, I only listened to his music this past two years

Unlike most indonesian singers who are often choosing English as their other language, Tulus choses Japanese and he has this song Natsu Wa Kinu

He has plenty of songs that are still easy to listen to even these days. So, I would recommend giving it a listen.

That’s all my tune Tuesday and while it’s not necessarily three, I hope you can discover something new to listen to. Let me know if you’re also familiar with them!

See you next Tuesday...

I confess I didn't expect to meet any artist when I read the title of the post, but I was wrong, thanks to the power of youtube and globalization I have listened to SƠN TÙNG M-TP, specifically This CHÚNG TA CỦA TƯƠNG LAI, and I have it in a playlist of fresh music for those who do from home haha, since I don't understand its lyrics, but I feel the sensations.

It was nice for me to discover old Snoop singing with a guy from Vietnam, he sure is everyone's friend hahaha, I've seen that over the years. He sounds great, no wonder he has reached popularity here in Latin America, although the music from your continent is breaking records here.

Of all the other recommendations that I obviously didn't know I'm sticking with Tulus, it's the kind of music I'm looking for lately and in fact I've already added them to a list of quiet music. I also liked the guy from Indonesia, maybe because of that same sound that brings me tranquility... Good selection Mac, you didn't let me down 😅😘

heheh thank you so much @jesuslnrs! Sorry I didn't see this earlier. It's sooo interesting even Song tung reached latin america haha. Sorry to see this pretty late, life has been hectic around hehe

These are lovely song with good lines. It's a great choice you have made for the songs.

yep! thanks for checking it out.

You're welcome
