Exploring the Beauty of the River Wye in Miller's Dale, Derbyshire

in Photography Loverslast month (edited)

Several years ago, the Miller's Dale train station on the Monsal trail was repurposed into a lovely café with toilet facilities and a car park. From the station, you can walk the old railway line to Buxton or Bakewell and further on.

The River Wye is a beautiful sight that spans 15 miles, flowing through the Peak District, Derbyshire, and through local towns, villages, wooded areas, and farmers' fields. You can sometimes spot the odd heron fishing at the side of the river. Not today though.

As we made our way down the footpath that ran parallel to the river, it was quite muddy. The recent rain had turned the ground into a squelching boggy mess. The pooch was determined to run through it. Oh dear. One mucky pup!

In the springtime, the fern fronds begin to unfurl. These very fine, green leaves begin to unfurl slowly from their tightly coiled buds, hoping that there is some sun. Unfortunately, the sun is still sparse at the moment.

Even though we didn't spot any herons on this walk, we did spot a nuthatch, robin and chaffinch eating the birdseed someone had left for them, so it more than made up for it.

Oh, I can imagine how quiet, calm and good it is there. I would like to sit there and listen to the babbling brook

Too cold at the moment. We are all ready for some sunny days.

Wow! A very beautiful place to walk and stop for a picnic. Do green and peaceful.

We just need the sun. Send sun!

Okay! In a few days you’ll have lots of sunshine!

It's arrived this morning. That was a quick delivery!

I thought it might but I didn’t want to push too hard. But the sun was ready to oblige and he was very kind always.

Wonderful outing in nature, shades of green bursting all along the river bank, bonus is seeing birds when out. Oh puppy is going to need a bath after black mud, how they love to romp through that too....

I quite like romping through it too. 😁

Bare foot squelching through toes feels amazing....
