The Great Outdoors

One of the things I enjoy most about walking in the countryside is observing wildlife and getting amongst the trees. This time of year, all the bluebells are out.

The pink and white flowers of the horse chestnut tree look really striking, especially during the month of May when they are in full bloom. Their delicate petals look really pretty in the sun.

The Welsh Poppy is quite widespread throughout wooded areas and grass verges. They can run riot!

The comma butterfly is quite common in the UK with its orange and brown markings. It's wings are a little raggedy around the edges. It also has a white ‘comma’ shape underneath its wings.

The moorhen looked splendid amongst the daisies. Its black feathers shining in the sunlight was a nice contrast against the white petals of the flowers.

I know people might think the cow parsley is a bit boring, but when there's lots of it in the wooded areas or along the side of the road, it can look quite pretty.

It wasn't long before we could smell the lovely aroma of the garlic plants. We've had quite a warm week, so everything is blossoming nicely. Lets hope the sunny weather continues.
