Fairhaven Town Hall

Fairhaven Town Hall

For this post I am going to share some shots of the Fairhaven Town Hall Quite a grand looking building

The Town hall is located at 40 Center Street, between Walnut and William Streets, across Center Street from the Millicent Library. it was designed by Charles Brigham and its style is a brick and stone High Victorian Gothic hall, and it was built in 1892.
It was given to the town by Henry Huttleston Rogers, who also made other significant contributions to the town, including the library. The building's granite trim elements were quarried in St. George, New Brunswick and Red Beach, Maine.

I tried my 11mm Wide angle lens for shots of it, but was hard to get a good position so only got this one shot with that lens

The photo above was when I tried to straightened and align the image, the next one is the same photo as taken with the camera without any straightening

When I drove past this building the first time I thought it was perhaps a church only when I parked and took a walk in this area and came pas this building did I realize it is the Town Hall, it certainly has style, I wonder how many small towns have such a grand town hall, to put the size of Fairhaven in perspective in the 2020 census the population is listed as 15,924.

In the shot above there was powerlines in view I took the time to edit them all out, but for this next shot from a different perspective, I decided to leave them or perhaps I was too lazy to take the time to edit them all out.

You may notice the Flag was at half mast that day in honor of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, on the day I took these photos back on the 7th of December

That's really a beautiful and impressive building.

I hate powerlines, I have even made a post about that fact a while ago, and I always try to avoid them or edit them out, if it's not too much work. And your photo would have been too much work for me to edit the powerlines out - there are so many of them, good job, JJ 👍

I feel the same way about them, but then again I look at it as they are par tof the scene and so I have mixed feelings and to lazy to edit them out of every photo LOL

!PIZZA and !BEER - sounds like a nice dinner :)

For me it's most times just laziness if I leave distracting powerlines in the photos 🤣 !LOLZ

Tbis building looks like some kind of church, but apparently the appearance is deceiving. We also have a similar building. We have a church looking museum in Szolnok, Hungary.

I give you some !PIZZA, some !LUV and some !LOLZ.

Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

What a stunning structure! I would love to see this featured in one of your Mono Mondays. There is something so moving about Gothic architecture and how it has the ability visually to affect us emotionally! Thanks for sharing.

Isnt it so grand, I think I did a couple of Mono edits so it may well feature in one of my Monday posts in the future ;)

the magnificent building under the blue clouds is very charming. may i fall in love with your 11mm wide lens hehe

Thanks and I do like the 11 MM, I wont use it to often but at time sit is so handy and has a cool effect

very useful when sitting or at a distance that does not allow us to back away so that the object remains intact in the camera frame,,

Exactly very handy in those situations so I have it in my walk around camera bag

For me who is still an amateur, I just hope that my dream will come true one day when I follow the process, hehe

I am an amateur also👍

My brother @tattoodjay, Why is today's flag flying at half-mast, is anyone in mourning?

the Flag was at half mast that day in honor of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, on the day I took these photos back on the 7th of December

Actually love the photo not straightened!

Power lines are a nightmare, such a part of life everywhere, simply cannot escape modern life hanging around can we?

What a beautiful building! I love the architectural style! Seriously, we need more buildings with 'character' like this, rather than the boxy styles so common today! Thanks for sharing this delightful structure with us! 😊

Thanks kindly your support is appreciated

Ohh yes they had so much style back then for sure

Have a great day

Such a beautiful building!
Which country is this please?

This is in the United States

Okay. Thank you.

👍🙂👍

These shots are cool! The building shines through a guard of leafless trees, its colour sustains its unique identity. plus the structure is brilliant!

Wow, this is a nice church. I love how many churches are such amazing buildings. It is great, that worshipping God leads to buildings, that even people who don't believe can admire. And I really think, that seeing the beauty of these churches helps to understand the beauty and goodness of God.
