Google is broken!
Perhaps it is AI or some kind of malicious manipulation, but Google has let me down in a big way. Google has been the “trusted” search engine for the better part of the modern internet age. Recently, I’ve been hearing of more and more people switching from Google to alternative search engines, specifically because the data was unreliable. I assumed (An old habit I’m working on shaking) that it was because google was curating results that were not necessarily the top answers, which I sort of accepted all along, but little did I know that they were literally giving false results, FAKE NEWS!
Last night as we were gazing upon the constellations from our hotel in Tulum, Mexico, my wife asked which hemisphere we were in. I told her what I thought to be correct, but decided to google it (working on not making assumptions here). Google said, it’s in the southern hemisphere, so I told my wife I was incorrect and that it was actually south of the equator. This instantly did not sit right. I am definitely not a geographical expert by any means, but I was pretty sure North America was called that because it was north of the equator. I decided to ask chat gpt, and chatgpt confirmed my original inclination, Tulum is indeed in the Northern Hemisphere. Needless to say, bye bye Google. Testing out DuckDuckGo, and so far so good.

Seriously, even scrolling through Google results, trying to turn off AI (it kept coming back), nothing factual, wtf!!
