How To Nail a Job Interview

in WorkLife13 days ago

If you are a graduating student or someone who just graduated from college, the first thing that’s probably bothering you is whether you will get your dream job. You will somehow not get your desired position that easily, but a decent job offer aligned with what you studied for years would do. The pressure comes with these thoughts, and you will feel scared of not getting employed after graduation.

The moment you decide to look through various job vacancies from companies in the corporate world, you will probably begin to think of ways to nail an interview. It is the main reason why I am writing this blog today. When I graduated from college, I hurriedly looked for open job positions. With the three job vacancies I applied for, I nailed the interviews from initial to final and got the job offer. Below are the tips and suggestions I could give on how you can do it, and these are based on my own experience.

1. Answer with consistency and confidence.

Always listen to the questions carefully, and compose your answer before talking. Once you start answering, be consistent with your answer and confident with it. In this way, they will observe that you clearly understood the question and are listening well.

2. Speak in a humble tone.

Make sure that you are speaking humbly, and do not speak too loud since it might give a different impression to the interviewing personnel. Do not sound over-confident and it would be best to keep a humble tone.

3. Eye-contact is a game-changer.

Eye-contact is also needed. Aside from showing sincerity while answering, this gesture also shows your honesty in answering and that you are also building a connection.

4. Answer direct to the point.

No one wants to hear a lot of talking, especially when some are just nonsense. It would be best to to consider answering direct to the point to avoid wasting more time. Also, this will be a perfect way to let the interviewing personnel know that you are listening to the question well.

5. Share experiences with valuable insights.

Do not overshare. It would be best to share only the experiences and achievements that is appropriate to the interview. If they are asking for work experiences, never forget to mention what you learned and what you will improve further.

People have different ways on how they express themselves, and these friendly tips are only based on my own experiences when I nailed job interviews from initial to final - up until I got the jobs. These are only from my opinion, and it's up to everyone how they deal with the said situation in their own point of views.
