Applications for the Wiki editing team are now open

in #hive2 months ago

A wiki needs an active community taking care of it. While a lot of people see hive primarily as a money-generating machine, a wiki cannot consistently reward its contributors financially. If you're comfortable with that, it would be great to welcome you on our editing team.

Initially there will be 3 userlevels: admins, moderators and editors.

To become an editor, the most important thing you need is some good knowledge about the topic you want to write about. You will have to follow the formatting and content guidelines (which mostly still have to be developed) and be motivated by the desire to create a valuable source of information. You're comfortable with citing sources and don't rely on copy and paste to present the information.
To become a moderator, you'll need all the above, but in addition have the time and resources to look over others' work. It'll be your responsibility what an end user looking for information ultimately gets to see, and you will help guide editors in a supportive and determined way.
There will be a few admin users, who will have full access to all functions, and also safeguard the keys to the wiki account.

If you're interested in contributing in any of these positions, or help out with technical tasks like development (py/js) or UI/UX design, join our Discord and apply in the dedicated channel.

What is Wiki ? WHy is it connected to Hive? are we talking about Wikipedia? Or another project on Hive? Why there is no link to the initial idea.

I completely don't understand this text

Comfortable with what? That Hive is money generating machine ? This sentence itself sounds pretty uncomfortable to me.

Can you at least explain, make a proper text so it can be understand by everyone, can you link to the original post? Why by default do you think everyone will understand what is this about.....

A wiki is a fairly mainstream thing and you can easily research what that is and guess what it means for Hive. There is a discord link to join and you can bet there will be information there if you are keen enough to look for it and ask questions to the admins, editors and moderators. Just checking it out myself.

Wikipedia is a wiki. If you don't know what that is, and are not interested in educating yourself, you're not the audience of this post.

That is what I thought I was just confused what it has to do with Hive and how relevant is Wikipedia or their project to Hive project... Just can't grasp it. When I went to discord the name itself says HiveWiki , so that in a whole just confuse me. I'm always happy to help with UI/UX for Hive related projects.

UI/UX will be mimicking other wikis, we gonna see what can be improved upon that once we have a live prototype.
Main dev UI issue right now are custom toastui editor plugins, I might be able to get into those myself but someone proficient in node/ts could do so faster...

I think it is a good idea!
That could be a place where newbies could find the necessary infos to start here.

Leoglossary goes in a similar direction, but I think to put all these info into a wiki would be better for finding the information.
