We have to be living in a time filled with the most gullible idiots I have ever seen.
On one hand, we have people in power bitching about lower birthrates leading to problems related to stress on the economy and an aging workforce.
On the other hand, those same fucking idiots usually have a hate boner for immigrants - and those immigrants are literally the exact thing that could solve the problem that they're bitching about.
Let's say you have 2 options as follows, which would you lean towards?
Fix the birth rate and aging workforce problem by importing folks that cannot speak English well and will not assimilate with the countries culture(s).
Find some internal solution that allows them to fix the birth rate problems (incentives for couples to have multiple kids) and have a streamlined pipeline that allows high school students to go straight into the work force (trades, etc.)
I’m sorta viewing this whole thing as black and white; I’m sure there’s a lot of gray that I’m missing.
The thing is this - they aren't talking #2. So that only leaves #1. And further, #1 is a strawman, since the entire concept of "assimilation" is bullshit.
For me personally? I obviously believe most of the things the ruling class bitch about, and encourage the poor to bitch about, could be solved with better government. That goes for both immigration and societal corrections to make people feel safe enough to want to actually reproduce.
