Breaking News : Paradise turning into hell - People in Mauritius have had enough and things are getting bad now! Day 1 of Riots in Mauritius!

I came back home and little did I know that in many regions of the island, people are on the roads and there were fights with the police force...

It is 3am here in Mauritius and the last 3 hours I have been watching live videos from different regions of the island and things are still bad out there.

What happened actually!??? Why the revolt of the Mauritian people!???

I'll brush a big picture...and will give more details on other posting!

The last 4 - 5 years, life is getting very expensive over here and everyone is feeling it. Our Rupee has been devaluated by a real lot and everything's kept rising in price...

And Mauritius depends on imports at over 75% I can say...and that's a lot, a real lot!

Unpopular Government in place since 2014...

and that's a another story...

Corruptions...crimes...oh yeah, it also happens here in paradise island!

Many have predicted Mauritius to follow same route as Sri Lanka...

Let's put these aside...

The recent gas and petrol price increase started making people manifesting...

This was only couple of days ago and this is where things started to get bad...

A peaceful activist arrested and kept in detention...

The guy is very famous on the island and known as Darren and always here to help the needy. He is a fighter for justice and has a big follower too!

His detention made people angry and it is now turning in a big fight...with the tensions already here with the repercussions of Covid19, I fear that this situation is going to get worst in the days to come...
