Firstly, Some Exciting News!
The Minnows Accelerator Project has received its first sponsor! Many thanks to @eturnerx for delegating 1000 SP towards the project; in the spirit of decentralised contracts, you can read the agreement here.
This allows me to do two things. Firstly, it allows me to delegate the winning 200 SP from my own account, without completely draining me of power. I have so far been using the delegation services of @neoxian and wish to thank him too for supporting the initial phases of MAP. As the project grows, I may still require his assistance.
The second thing the sponsorship has allowed me to do is to change slightly the way people vote. They can now vote directly for an author's comment, rather than on mine, so that comment rewards go directly to the writers. In its place, I am experimenting with using SurveyMonkey as the main vote counter.
I have not set sponsorship targets before but, on the back of discussions within the chatrooms, this is a good time to start. The plan is to make the winning prize more significant, eventually reaching 200 SP delegated for 4 weeks, rather than the current 1 week. Assuming a peak of one winner per day (remembering that there could be more than one winner per contest) for 4 weeks, plus the 7-day cooling period when delegated SP is returned to the owner but cannot be used, then I am looking at 35 days times 200 SP, giving a total needed of 7,000 SP. We already have 1,000 SP so just 6,000 SP more to go!
What Do the Content Creators Need to Do Now?
If you are one of Six listed below, then this is your chance to show everybody your best work - and to get votes.
= Firstly, please write a comment with links to some of your best recent articles. I would say perhaps 2-4 articles from the last 2-4 weeks.
= Then, please resteem this post to your followers so that they may come and vote for you.
= You should also announce this on your current posts. This contest will last for 6.5 days, so you have time to spread the word. I have also found that appropriate comments with a linkback also work very well, as long as the comment itself is meaningful. Use Markdown, so that your link is short: [like this](link in here). = Firstly, make sure you read all the six blogs - you may discover something new and an author you had not noticed before.
= Also, you are free to add comments and upvote the author comments to show them extra love and support.
= But most importantly, vote for your favourite author or authors in the link below. You may only vote one time but you can vote for more than one author - so think about it carefully!
= What will you get? Apart from the warm glow of satisfaction at having helped a fellow Steemian, I shall upvote any interesting comments.

Yes, it's just a way for them to extract money.
Just to restate, every vote is logged and will be counted. It's just that we have reached their limit of 100 votes, hence anything beyond that will not show in the graph generated after one votes, but I am able to count them manually at the end. You'll just have to trust me!

@rycharde, what if I don't resteem and don't announce this on my next posts, do I get disqualified?
I can promote this to people through discord, but I don't like cluttering my page with resteems.
For most people it is the fastest way to promote votes for themselves by resteeming and also writing short dedicated posts. The slow, but possibly more effective way is to add comments to existing friends pointing them here.
All of this to say that if you have more effective ways to promote yourself (and by extension this post and the whole project) then that's fine. Use the chatrooms too!
Just to add, for everybody reading, you don't get disqualified for not following suggestions - you've been selected on the basis of your blog, not your marketing skills.

I'd like to point out that resteeming is pretty critical to the eventual survival of this platform. It's essentially the most effective way for others to find items of similar "tastes" to those who they follow, by having that person resteem things they find interesting. Facebook/etc have this built in with "suggested posts", "____ of your friends 'liked' _____" and the like, and it's a large part of their success as social platforms... it's how stuff goes viral.
Without it here, as a long term strategy the finding of like minded content will provide frustrating and difficult. People will only really see their front page "feed" and end up in an isolated pod of content. Sharing [resteeming] adds to that feed things from outside, but similar, sources and helps to grow their sphere of exposure in the same was as the FB/Twitter built in features. But it has the added benefit of being human curated by someone you follow (thus presumably someone with similar content tastes).
Not being critical, just want to share some of the nuances of how social platforms work I've learned through the years so that we can all do our part to help this one succeed! :-)
Hi, thanks for your comment and, in general, I agree with you. The essence here is that there is a mutual interest in participants promoting this post and themselves. If one of them were to ask me if they really had to promote MAP, then I would have made an error of judgment in letting them join in the first place. This hasn't happened yet; indeed, some have written dedicated posts describing their experience here.
In this very particular case, I am aware of the chatroom and the admins and people in it, so promoting this MAP6 there should yield positive effects.
So, yes, the nature of the Steemit stream is that posts need to be promoted in order to achieve some level of traction, but resteeming is not the one and only way of doing so. Thanks again!
No your comment is totally appreciated, I never thought of it that way. I just never liked resteems because they clutter up my feed, and I often choose not to follow people just because most of their posts are resteems.
Everything you said, I do via others channels. I personally recommend authors via private chat, or discord, or steemit.chat forums, I link to posts in comments, and our @SteemDeepThink initiative is partly meant to bring like-minded individuals together.
I've considered making a syndication bot. Something along the lines of Digg/etc for re-steeming posts that meet specific criteria. Maybe even doing a different daily category or something to keep it from getting too stale, and do keep from needing one for each category.
