Here you can see some pictures of different metal art and I would like to talk about the blacksmithing in this post and it is known that it was a typical profession for men, which can be attributed to the hard work, but women have also played an important role and I would like to shed more light on this topic. Women were often responsible for the housekeeping work within the forge and helped to prepare the food for the blacksmith and their apprentices and and even when it comes to the sales, women were often at work around the men and wrote the invoices and took care of the general accounting. In pretty much all the secondary work that was important for the existence that took place in and around the forge, women were working and since blacksmiths were often considered family businesses, the women also took care of the children and were also sometimes responsible for the division of times and prepared the food and they also often defined the working hours and breaks and of course, it always depended on the type of the forge as well as the circumstances what role women played in it and in addition to the things that were important for everyday life, women had an important organizational importance and were also active in trade and took over the tasks that did not burden the forces too much. Even when it comes to the processing of the metals, women have often played an important role and before the metals could be used, the ore had to be processed first and here it is assumed that the women were often responsible for washing and sieving and also in the direct production of metal objects, the women were sometimes involved in the work. Also in mythology is noticeable that most of the gods were of male origin, but there are also female protective goddesses of this craft and the most famous was probably Brigid, who was revered by the ancient Celts and had an important meaning, especially in Ireland. Without women, the work of the blacksmiths would not have been so easy and were mainly responsible for the tasks around the forge while the men pursued the craft and nowadays there are numerous women who work in this craft and due to the industrial revolution it came to the fact that some tasks were no longer so exhausting and more women worked as blacksmiths and nowadays there are many women who work as blacksmiths and no matter and whether as gold, art or weaponsmith, women play an important role.
