With this post, I would like to show you the place where I spend my childhood for 6 months per year.
This is the front of the house, that was build 38 years ago by my grandfather and by my father. It is all in wood and it has 4000 squared meters of land.

On the other side, the tanks on the roof are used to channel rain water into the hydraulic system of the wooden house

This is the bedroom where we used to sleep all together!

Let's go outside. This is the garden behind, with apricots, prunes, lemons, almonds trees and some wild roses and herbal plants too.
This is one of the lemon trees. It produces different qualities of lemons, with thick peel, with thin peel, small, big

For those who wonder how our figs look like
Oleanders. Their smell is supposed to keep the mice away

That's my dad, he spent the morning opening the almonds!

These are our olive trees, they give us around 40 liters of olive oil per year

What an amazing summer place! Firstly I am SUPER jealous that you can grow your own olives and figs and citrus. I have succesfuly grown figs, but then I lost my fig tree this past winter because it was the coldest in decades.
Someday I would love a little stone cottage get away either in Souther France or in Italy. It looks like a wonderful place.
Will you be here now until the end of Summer or is it just a short holiday?

We are lucky because the temperature and the weather here allows to give such good fruits without too much care! The land is very fertile, I believe also because we are close to the sea and lemons and figs (and almonds too actually) don't need very much rain. Here it usually rains very very little.
I am here just for 20 days!
Looks like a great place to grow up as a child. Enough space to play around and a beautiful beach close by. And that wooden house with all the colours is awesome.

Sandrina, this is magic! I feel so happy you went home to visit. Your home is perfect, the sun, the sky, the sea, the land and its bounty. Just amazing.
It's very touching to see the reverence you have for your father. Your love shows. One of the very first posts of yours I read was about his love of frames, I was expecting to see them in here!

About your aging parents, are there people in your town to come look after them and the homestead while you are away? The people within our communities can be a blessing in situations like these.
I empathize with your concern. We live at home right now (with our parents and family) so we can help lighten their load because they are also aging and their needs are changing. Winds of change...
Just saying, everything it's pretty dry because it summertime and we haven't had any rain for a while!
That is the most amazing house I have seen in a long long while. I LOVE how colorful it is, and the open-air to the country. And of course, homemade makes it even way cooler. I would love to meet your Dad, he looks like such a character. The pasta photo is a classic. Wonder where your fun view of the world came from?....

Yes, we were 4: I, my sister ,my mum and my dad and we were sharing 1 bedroom!
Now I don't do that!
That is that summer house where we spent few months every year. The rest of the time (and nowadays) I stay in our flat in the center area of my town.
How close is the beach house to the flat in the center of town?

Those figs are huge! Mine are the size of a coin.
I like the painting of the naked lady on the wall in the bedroom. I love the acceptance of the body in Europe. Here, I ended up taking down my nude paintings that hung in a hallway because it freaked out the parents with little kids. A shame.
Looks like a nice place to grow up.

The house reminds me of the place I live in here, all made by hand-- yours is more like an artistic sculpture.
yeah, probably your doesn't have mice and it has a pavement that is flat, that doesn't follow the shape of te ground.
I usually have more cats than mice, but no pavement here; wooden floors, the biggest room has an uphill side and a downhill side. It was probably more flat when it was built back in the 1970s.
Wow those figs are huge! Coincidentally, I bought a fig tree a few days ago (it's still a baby tree) and it's bearing small fruits already, but nothing compared to what your tree produces.
A beach home yay! Love all the herbs and everything that’s planted that is so cool!
