Mobile phone theft seems to be the national sport in some capitals, if we take into account the thirty thousand stolen in Barcelona last year or the nearly one hundred thousand stolen in London, which is a task not only because now we don't even know how to go to the bathroom without the phone but, in addition, we store all kinds of compromising information on it.

El robo de teléfonos móviles parece ser el deporte nacional en algunas capitales, si tenemos en cuenta los treinta mil robados en Barcelona el año pasado o los cerca de cien mil robados en Londres, lo cual es una faena no solo porque ahora no sabemos ni ir al baño sin el teléfono sino que, además, guardamos en él todo de tipo de información comprometedora.

Surely that is why Google has announced a series of protections that will be included with the launch of the new version of the Android 15 operating system. These protections have been created with the aim of making things more complicated for crooks when it comes to resetting the terminal or access sensitive information.

Seguramente por eso Google ha anunciado una serie de protecciones que vendrán incluidas con el lanzamiento de la nueva versión del sistema operativo Android 15, estas protecciones han sido creadas con el objetivo de ponerle las cosas más complicadas a los cacos a la hora de resetear el terminal o acceder a información sensible.

To prevent thieves from resetting the terminal to factory settings to facilitate its sale, with the new version it will not be possible to configure a mobile phone as new without knowing the code or password of our Google account, which makes it difficult to sell it even though they manage to force a factory reset.

Para evitar que los ladrones restablezcan en terminal a valores de fábrica para facilitar su venta, con la nueva versión no será posible configurar un móvil como nuevo sin conocer el código o la contraseña de nuestra cuenta de Google, con lo que se dificulta su venta aunque consigan forzar el restablecimiento de los valores de fábrica.

On the other hand, to prevent our banking data from being stolen, Google has created private spaces to hide banking applications, different from the rest of the applications and protected by an additional code, in addition to another specific code to be able to change terminal settings that may present an added risk.

Por otra parte para impedir que sustraigan nuestros datos bancarios Google ha creado espacios privados para ocultar las aplicaciones bancarias, distintos al del resto de aplicaciones y protegidos por un código adicional, además de otro código específico para poder cambiar ajustes del terminal que puedan presentar un riesgo añadido.

But this is not all, Google has devised a system called "Theft Detection Lock" that is capable of detecting if someone steals our phone and runs away, somehow the terminal detects the movements associated with this situation and automatically locks the screen to prevent them from accessing our information.

Pero esto no es todo, Google ha ideado un sistema llamado "Theft Detection Lock" que es capaz de detectar si alguien nos roba el teléfono y sale corriendo, de alguna manera el terminal detecta los movimientos asociados a esta situación y bloquea automáticamente la pantalla para evitar que accedan a nuestra información.

In addition, Android 15 will use artificial intelligence to detect suspicious behavior in the applications we have installed, it will automatically hide screens that have sensitive data such as passwords in applications that need to share the screen and it will alert us if we are using a network connection that is not encrypted.

Además Android 15 usará inteligencia artificial para detectar comportamientos sospechosos en las aplicaciones que tengamos instaladas, ocultará automáticamente las pantallas que tengan datos sensibles como contraseñas en las aplicaciones que necesiten compartir la pantalla y nos alertará si estamos usando una conexión de red que no está cifrada.
