Just Like The Title Says

“So you mean to tell me…” almost inevitably ends with upsetting the listener. Invariably. I mean, anyone starting a sentence that way, effectively doesn’t want to resolve things.

It’s like saying, “No offense, but…” Of course, everything after the “but” contradicts everything before it. If you can repeat what someone said, they aren’t “meaning to tell” you, they already have and any suggestion otherwise is invalidating. Unreal.

Feels like the person is just trying to repeat what has been said
