How-To on Drawing a Side Profile Face

in #s7 years ago (edited)

Hello. I have decided to post a Tutorial on drawing a face. I will admit, This tutorial has more steps to it, but it will hopefully be just as easy to follow.

Your finishing product should turn out something like this-

Step 1:
Two basic shapes that will help you get the structure of the head right.

Step 2:
Here is just some basic guide line for your face. The top most line is your eyebrow. The two second lines will be where you place your eye. The third line will be the bottom of the nose. And the fourth will be your mouth.

Step 3:
Here we draw the ear, eye, mouth and eyebrow. Notice that I do not fill in the front of the eyebrow. When we color that in with a pen or pencil you may chose to extend the brow to your liking.

Step 4:
Right here we fill in the back of the head. I will point out that the hair is not connected to the skull line. Unless your hair has no volume, you will want to extend the distance between the two lines.

Step 5:
Right here we add the pupil and other eye details.

Step 6:
Now you may chose to erase the guide lines. I've started out the hair line, as you can see it is just a whole bunch of pen or pencil strokes at an angle pointing outward.

Step 7:
This will be our final step. I have added some shadows to the face as well as detail to the eye and hair. You may chose to add more or less detail depending on your skills and taste as an artist, but that will finish this particular drawing for today.
