Whaleshares does has it's own wallet app. The current registration process requires a Bitshares account since that is how the original sharedrop claim process worked, it allows for user integration with our cross-chain whaletokens (the original idea behind SMTs), it is our gateway out to other crypto and fiat, and it allows us to verify user accounts easier.
