The country is famous for tourism, Ceylon tea &, etc. But now we are in the worst economic crisis.

But the Rajapaksa family is well-known for their corruption & this power helped them bring chaos to the country's economy, but they had a luxurious life in the last two years.
During the past two years, Sri Lanka headed into shortages in fuel, food, medicine, electricity, fertilizer & all other essential services. The central bank of Sri Lanka stopped paying debts, and the country defaulted. Since April 2022, anti-government protests have begun against this corrupted family regime & they established "Gota Go Gama" at Galle Face, Sri Lanka, and started peaceful protests to force Gotabaya to step down from the presidency. Then protesters establish "Mayina Go Gama" in front of the Temple Trees (Prime Mister's House) as well.

This incident leads to a step-down, Mahinda Rajapaksa from the Prime Minister's position and he hides at a Naval base in Trincomalee. The island-wide curfew & state of emergency awake.

Ranil Wickremesinghe became the new prime minister of Sri Lanka & but the crisis is not yet fixed. Sri Lankans have no idea where this crisis will lead to. But the struggle led to the removal of a dictator family from the political power in Sri Lanka & hope this will support the country to build a bright future through these lessons.

The political instability
On April 21st, 2019, the Pasku bomb attack led to bringing Gotabaya Rajapaksa to the president of Sri Lanka's in the Presidential Election of 2019. He is the brother of Mahinda Rajapaksa (Former President of Sri Lanka). In the next parliamentary election, they won 148/225 seats. Then they got support from a few MP's of the opposition party and established one of the strongest governments in 2020.Source: The Corrupted Family Regime

The Assault on Peaceful Protesters
On the 09th of May, 2022, supporters of the ruling party (SLPP) started attacking "Mayina Go Gama" peaceful protesters in front of the Prime Minter's House, next they went to attack "Gota Go Gama". Peaceful protesters were heavily outnumbered, but they got support from the public. As a result of that thugs brought by the ruling party faced the anger of locals & Ruling party leaders' houses & their properties that brought thugs to attack the peaceful protesters were burned.Source: Ruling Party Attack on Peaceful Protesters
