I recovered my account after it had been stolen but I can’t edit the phisher’s comments. advice is needed.

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Two days ago my account had been stolen, I am sure I didn’t give away my keys, so far I don’t know how someone stole it. He transferred my SBD to another account (@good-kama).

The phisher commented on a huge number of posts claiming they are not original and included links to external sites, comments owners flagged the comments reducing my reputation to (-1).

I used Stolen system recovery and it recovered the account yesterday. Since recovery I am trying to edit the phisher’s comments but they don’t respond. Other comments are editable. I have tried to include screenshots for my account and what happens when I try to edit the comments, but I can’t upload images because the reputation is low.

Can you advise on how to investigate what is happening and how to prevent such things from happening in future?
and if Is it possible to reset the account to the state before it was hacked?
If you are someone who flagged the comments, Please remove the flag.

Thanks.

I'm sorry you got your account stolen! Hopefully you can get back on track again soon!

@kryptocek just told me that if you put your SBD into your savings it takes three days before you can take them out so if this happens again you're a bit more safe! :-)

This is right, Thank you for wishing me being back and many thanks for the advice. ;)

Hopefully it won't take too long!

It actually didn't :) thank you.

I wish you the best!

I had something similar with Facebook yet I didn't get it to recover. November last year I started promoting my webpage on Facebook and at the beginning of February it got deleted without warning nor reason. 600 followers up to that time, personal advice people asked me for, new contacts I shared quite consistent mutual exchange with all gone within a moment. And I couldn't tell anyone about it. I created a new one which got deleted within minutes. No chance to inform ayone about that. This led me to Steemit finally. We'll see what happens here!

I started to believe here is very much different. Actually there are many people who offered their help without being asked to, one of those who flagged me once they new that I recovered my account removed the flags and adviced me what to do. And finally there is steemcleaners Discord channel that helps anyone asks to, this is where @patrice removed the flags after asking me to edit the phishing comments.
I have learnt that here is much safer than facebook not because bad things don't happen but because there is a chance to correct them.
Some bad things can initiate a change in direction that bring about better results as your leaving facebook and me abandoning my facebook page with 6000 followers because of the intensity with which they insist in promoting your post to the point that no one would see it until you do. Hope steemit continue improving and keeping its users safe.
Thank you for your wishes, hope the best for you.

In the blockchain you can't revert things. Fortunately I see you recovered your money. And you should be happy for recovering your account. You don't have to start over because you have friends and followers that will help you recover.
In the future NEVER use your POSTING KEY, ACTIVE KEY o Master password in any unknown site. There are really few trusted STEEM services you can trust: steemit.com, busy.org & steemconnect.com are the main ones.
You are now stronger! Keep steeming hard!

Thanks @dropahead for replying.
Actually I didn't use my keys anywhere but steemit. not even the trusted Steem services. Yes I am very happy to recover my account. It took me almost 3 months to reach the lost reputation and the thankfully not lost followers. I will actually keep handling this, Thank you for the strong motivation. :)

I would assume who owns that account is responsible but that could be an account hidden behind another.

How can an account be hidden behind another??

Follow the money transfers. I connected at least 12 accounts before it was too much.

I was one that had flagged you, removed it and tried to help upvote your posts a little. A lot of users have had this problem lately, here's a link to someone that just went through it and was able to regain control of his account and get his rep back. Maybe read his post and someone there can help you connect with the right people to get this all the way resolved. Sorry it happened to you. . steem on!

Thank you @khackett for your support and advise, I did read the post and shared what happened to my account there. Thank you again and have a nice day.

Yay! I'm so glad to see your rep restored! ❤❤❤
