WANTED - Better incentives for 100% Power Up [some ideas]

Take a look at top authors, then take a look at Trending/Hot categories. Very few authors are using the 100% Power Up option for posts, yet many of these authors talk about being committed to Steem for the long term. So why wouldn't they 100% their posts?

There is practically no incentive to 100% power up your posts on Steemit at this time.

Most of us know that for the Steem ecosystem, keeping Steem powered up is a good thing. It shows long term commitment to the future of the currency, reduces circulating currency and limits the ability to panic sell or dump large amounts of currency onto the market.

So why are there no incentives to 100% Power Up?

I'm not sure, I'll leave that to the developers to answer if they wish. I however would like to propose two ideas for incentivizing 100% posts.

  • Give powered up posts a better chance to land in a Trending or Hot category. Powered up posts could be given an extra multiplier that is factored in when calculating the score for Hot/Trending, let's say something like 1.25 giving an article a 25% better chance of trending.

  • Alternatively, you could give powered up posts a better payout through a multiplier as well. How about a 10-20% author payout bonus (applied after author/curator payouts are split)

Win/Win

Both of these provide an incentive to the author to use the Power Up feature which not only benefits them but also benefits the currency and community as a whole.

Would you like to see these types of incentives? Please consider a resteem and an upvote.

Good point, in the current economy system, it is just better off to convert your steem dollar into steem and then to the steem power than to choose 100% to steen power. I suggest at all time, the 100% should generate more steem powet than above or as you said the post usr 100% should get extra exposure time at least.

I thought if you power up for the year Steemit Cycle you get a share of the pot every year based on what steam power you have?

You should NOT power up, it hurts you and the Steem ecosystem! What is better is to go for 50/50 but convert the SBD to Steem and power then. I created a post where I explained why it's bad to power up 100%: https://steemit.com/steemit/@okean123/2-big-reasons-why-you-should-not-power-up-100-2-grosse-gruende-warum-ihr-nicht-100-uppowern-solltet-english-deutsch

So I understand your article and your points. My question then, why does the 100% option still exist if it makes no sense to choose? Given that it is still an option, I think it's fair and valid to say that it should still be incentivized.

Actually it makes sense to choose it, but not now. If the SBD price equals one dollar it's best to choose the 50/50 option.
If the SBD price is lower than $1 it is useful to choose the 100% power up function. There are two reasons for this.
First: If the SBD price is too low, it means that there is too much SBD, so you choose the power up function to create less SBD. So the SBD price can go back to one dollar.
Second reason is, that you'll get more money. If you get half of your payout in SBD but the SBD price is less than one dollar you actually get less than one dollar per SBD. But if you get your payout 100% in Steem you actually have the full amount of money.

I hope you can unserstand me.

Hmmm, reading your article now to get a better understanding. Thanks for the heads up

The incentive is that you get more SP.

Interesting greetings

Yes people who talk about being passionate and dedicated to growth of Steemit should have 100% power up their posts but this doesn't happen. Are they just lying to make money? What's your opinion on this?

No, I don't think they are lying. I think there are alternate ways to power up that right now are more lucrative. If they are going to keep the 100% option, then make it useful, cheers

I'd say give SBD payouts a 5% penatly, so with 100% power up you wouldn't lose that 5%.
