I do agree steemit is leading the way! I still use Facebook because the "average" people are still there wasting there time. Time to bring them here.
I also just posted on Steemit that I made a FB group that brings them here, I converted like 300+ "Facebook" people into Steemians in just 2 weeks.

I agree with you @inventor16 , Steemit is where the future is at right now in this very moment in time. Facebook/Twitter etc. will have their place, but decentralized joints like this are going to blast through barriers as the days, weeks, months and years go by.

Thanks for this post, really interesting post and I still have facebook but I hardly write anymore I spend all time here :0)
Only reason I started with facebook was everybody I know wrote to me there so I had to go in and read and thete I was.

Less good place to be. This community is amazing in everyway and I learn new things and I feel more normal here cause I can be myself but on facebook its different.
I agree on the thought of facebook wants to control their members And they follow what ever higher power who wants them to change things.

I don't use Facebook anymore, or at least not for posting. I do sign on sometimes so that I can connect with some old friends but that is through messaging. However, I'm trying to get my family over to SteemIt. I know I told you before, but once my parents make the move they will be joining and my wife has finally made an account. Granted, she hasn't made a post yet.
Yes, for Facebook to be overtaken it does need to be completed by a platform that is decentralized and SteemIt has gotten a headstart on any other location and appears to be growing rapidly! Steem On!

I think Fakebook will attempt to roll out a fake cryptocurrency so people will think they don't have to leave. Zuckerberg will own it and rig the value. Resteeming.
@bigfatmyths agreed it'll be similar to reddit karma, but it will be owned and controlled by Facebook so it'll defeat the purpose of cryptocurrency in the first place. Facebook would never relinquish control of their platform or part of their platform to their users.

I have always shied away from social media including Facebook and Twitter although I have dabbled in LinkedIn. This all changed when I discovered steemit as I recently described in my intro post. You're right that it is really something to behold that the likes of Facebook can't buy steemit and yes it does have the potential to rival it. For once in my life I feel like I am ahead of the game rather than following the masses - very refreshing. Thanks @inventor16

I can see steemit becoming big. Boil it all down, and the biggest reason is that it offers nearly anyone the opportunity to share their ideas and get rewarded for it in a clean environment. It's a tough bet to make, primarily piggybacking the success of Bitcoin and other popular cryptocurrencies. I think platforms like these (steemit) need to re-design their business plan with the primary goal of pushing quality content in front of people rather than focusing on user generated tags.
