THE GIANT GOULAFFRE: In their daring escape from the giant Goulaffre, who pursued them in his furious rage with seven-league boots, the fugitives cleverly evade detection by hiding under a stone. As they venture into a moor filled with granite blocks, they discover Goulaffre's discarded boots and a shiny object resembling his eye in a cave. Seizing an opportunity, they successfully remove the boots while Goulaffre rests, hoping to outsmart him. Although a close call occurs when the giant stirs, they manage to escape unnoticed. Allanic dons the coveted seven-league boots, leaving Fistilou behind. Goulaffre, upon awakening and realizing his loss, howls in anguish, and with bleeding feet, he is forced to return to his castle. The fugitives, having outwitted the giant, triumphantly carry away the prized boots as they continue their journey.
