Dual Purpose
This post will serve two primary purposes. First, we are going to have a bit of a contest and curation effort to honor that crazy American holiday called Giveusyourshitordie Thanksgiving Day. Aside from what History says (we know who writes the books), we all love to eat! So, we are going to celebrate food!
The second little announcement, is to get people on the here and now for our 'Ugly Sweater Christmas' event! This will be the third year running and a great idea popped up in chat the other day - White Elephant gifts! We will go more into that a little later in this post, so do read on and see what fun things are in store this holiday season.
It is simple to participate in the Gobble Gobble Giggidy Gump, just write about your favorite meal! Not sure if I personally have one, though I do remember a cheesecake from ages past... Anyhooz! It will go like this:
- Write a post about your favorite meal ever in the world.
- Tag the post with #thealliance and #bestmealever.
- Drop a link to it in the comments below so we can come 'feast' our eyes on it!

So, go get to it! Your meal could be a cheeseburger at a local diner that was so delicious, not because of the flavor, but because of the company. Maybe it was your first date? Maybe you had a #pizza so delicious, that you still can taste the sauce and cheese lingering on your tongue? Maybe you have a favorite recipe you want to share with us? Maybe you have your Turkey Day planned out and want to share that in hopes it'll be the best ever? Whichever the case may be, share it with us! You will have until midnight on #Thanksgiving Day to enter the fun.😇
White Elephant Gifts
You may or may not be keen on what The Alliance has done the past few years, and if you aren't that's ok, we will still love you and wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Splendid Kwanza, Killer Krampus or however you decide to (if at all) spend the latter part of the year.
This year, in honor of our 'Ugly Sweater Christmas', we have decided to go with a 'White Elephant' theme. It's still called 'Ugly Sweater', but, you know. It's a colorless animal. Normally, the 'Dirty Santa' gifting is at a party and you are allowed to do one of two things; grab a present from the ones available or steal one from someone else. Once all the gifts are handed out, the first person that chose a gift gets one final swap of anyone else's. Since we are not going to be in close proximity, our rules will be different.
So, stay tuned for that post tomorrow and the sign up sheet! It will be out for only a week before names get distributed during next week's 😝Chitty Chatty Fambalam Time!😎 It'll be fun, I promise. Or, I hope it will be. Bwaha! Now, let's see some FOOOOD!
