The Cosmopolitan And The Buffet.jpg

While The Cosmopolitan was not far from where I was staying in Vegas it was a place I was kind of looking to avoid. Everyone I ever talk to about gambling at The Cosmopolitan seems to say the same thing. They lose their shirt there and question their sanity for returning every time. They love to offer free hotel rooms. I guess my gambling was not impressive enough for them since I left with money to offer me any.

The main point of going to The Cosmopolitan was to hit up one of the buffets I had plans for this trip to go to. It’s hard to go to Vegas and not check out the Wicked Spoon. During the week they are only open from 8 AM to 3 PM. I was looking to get there around brunch time hoping to catch and pay for the breakfast hours but get some of the lunch offerings as well.

It would also be my first time while on the strip having to cross the ground floor of the street. The light ended up taking a bit longer than I was expecting. Some taxi drivers even slammed on their breaks after failing to run a red light and honked at the massive crowd walking across the street. As if that would help matters any further. I think people kept crossing long after the light turned red with a no-walking sign despite the angry taxi driver.

Like many casinos, the Cosmopolitan was like a maze. The goal was to make it to the buffet without losing too much money at any slots. This would require a fair bit of walking and hunting around for it. At this point, I somewhat gave up on using GPS to find anything. Vegas seems to change too frequently for that.

007 slots.jpg

This place even had some slots that I’ve been on the hunt to play for quite a while. I, however, was not going to let them distract me. Yes, those are some 007 slots and there are none in the state I gamble in. It was so tempting to stop but I’d return another time and have a go at them.

The Cosmopolitan is also linked to a couple of other casinos so exactly where I ended up gambling after brunch is anyone's guess. I sure don’t recall. Other than that, I had a couple of cents left over at three separate casinos from this little outing of mine.

old vibe.jpg

This place also had quite an outdated feeling. Granted they had quite a lot of older slots as well. I’m not sure if it was the lighting or the chairs that made this place feel outdated. At least it was not in a bad way. It seems many casinos in Vegas spend a mint every year to avoid giving off that kind of vibe. I was almost starting to like the place.

It was then time to go up a couple of escalates. I only had a lost idea of where I was supposed to be going. I had been thinking about this buffet since the moment I woke up. I came with an empty belly hoping it would be amazing.

While many casinos had some crazy stuff. This at one point had been up there on people's lists when coming to Vegas to take a look at it. I hate to think how you would even attempt to clean something like that.

on my way.jpg

I ended up coming across a bit of a food court. There were also signs for different casinos, conference rooms, and what I came for the buffet. They try and make you think you are getting close. It would still be a bit of a journey before reaching there.

strange stuff.jpg

There were also some rather strange statues. This was also in one of the hallways that seemed like they would take you to another casino. At one point I was starting to wonder if I had gone too far and would end up needing to double back and check a different route. I however would not be much further.

I rather preferred the older vibe feeling the casino floor down below was giving off than this section of the building. I’m not even sure what it’s supposed to mean, and I don’t care to know much else. It was just so odd it had to be shared!

Finally, I arrived at The Wicked Spoon. My first course I would call mostly breakfast. I did not need the pancakes, but I thought why not give them a try? I had missed wherever you could get syrup from, but they were good enough that it was not needed it just would have been nice to have had.

the omelet line.jpg

I then spent way too long in the line for an omelet. It’s not like this buffet was going to be open all day long. I was, however, quite fun to watch a couple of omelets being made at a time. Your omelet would start on the far right and as the process slowly moved along it would get moved to the middle and then the far-left burner before being done.

Next up I thought I’d try some sushi. Normally this stuff is far too pricey for me to even go near. I quickly discovered I was not a fan of the seaweed wrap they were using. Thankfully the other buffet would have some as well and that is when I started to understand people's love for this stuff. This plate of it however was not for me. At least I had some cheesecake to wash it down with.

he desert.jpg

A big part of this buffet was going to be the desert section. I’m willing to admit it was not as good as I was hoping for it to be. It all looks tasty. Some of it was a bit strange and I kind of knew going into it I had no idea what some of it would take like.

That is always part of the fun of a buffet. Trying new things and discovering if you liked something or not. There is some stuff I’d pass on if I ever went back to this buffet. Other than like the omelet even though it was a bit of a wait that would be worth getting again.

At the very least I can say I was quite stuffed after leaving this buffet. I also had some snacks for later that would end up coming quite in handy. Sometimes the sticker shock of the food in Vegas is enough to keep you from wanting to eat anything. Other times you are just glad you have something stuffing in the refrigerator in your hotel room.

I then did some backtracking trying to find those 007 slot machines. I had no luck finding them. They for whatever reason ended up evading me. I, however, was not going to give up the chase of finding them just yet. I’d come back and find them another time.

Final Thoughts

off to the next place.jpg

It was then time to walk down some long hallways and see what else I could find. I needed to walk off quite a few calories anyway. It had already been a descent adventure just to get brunch. More fun times were waiting ahead for me.

Hahaha, you tried such a variety of food. Usually at a buffet I am such a man-child. I take a nominal selection of most things and then triple-down on the meat!

Bacon? Bacon! Sausage, sausge, chop, bacon... I will be back for more... you said it was all you can eat! Its a buffet!

I find it a great way to try and find new things one might enjoy. At a normal restaurant I tend to just go with a hamburger or omelet lol.

Right?! One would go to the go-to choice instead of trying something and then being disappointed in that choice!
