Let's travel together #55 - The Botanical Garden from Simeria (Gradina Botanica din Simeria)

in #travelfeed6 years ago (edited)

Everybody needs an escape to the nature from time to time, the problem is that sometimes we are so caught up in daily routines that we tend to postpone the adventure. But if you have a botanical garden in your city, it might be the perfect solution for stress or just a good way of -relaxation-
😴

The botanical garden from Simeria is located in Hunedoara County - a beautiful place from Romania which is inviting you to discover its natural treasures. The garden is a arboretum extended on a huge surface of 70 ha. Just like the Bigar Waterfall, the park is no less outdated, earning some important positions in different tops:

  • 🥇 No. 1 in the Top of The most beautiful botanical gardens from Romania;
  • 🥈 No. 3 in the Top of The most beautiful botanical gardens from Europe;
  • 🥉 No. 11 in the Top of The most beautiful botanical gardens in the WORLD.

By time, this place collected some of the most valuable and rare exotic plants, currently including 2165 different species. The park is surrounding the Gyulay Castle and the wild landscape is completed by little bridges over the river, lakes and benches located in the shade of the old trees, which are calling you to a moment of rest while you are listening to the silence of the nature.

Being such a huge surface, there are big risks of getting lost while you are exploring. If it's also a rainy day, you have to either enjoy the rain while you are hiding under the trees or figure out the way out of the park. I've been there before and even with the GPS it was hard to find the right path out of the botanical garden but it was so much fun! Where would be all the fun if it was so easy to just run away on such beautiful moments when the nature gets refreshed by rain showing their dewy colors? It's important to make beautiful from every situation so just enjoy any change may occur in any moment. Make it memorable! 💌

This great arboretum is maintained by only 4 persons which have a lot of beautiful stories to be shared with you, but if you want to visit the garden, you need at least 3 or 4 hours to discover the mystery of the plants. During the spring you may also have a surprise as the park becomes the guest house for deer, which are coming down the mountain to born their babies, the natural garden offering them the protection and habitat they truly need.

The entry fee is 5RON per person (~1EURO per person) and the doors are open daily for visitors between 8AM and 8PM. The tax means nothing comparing with the fresh air and good vibes that such a place can bring to you so be sure to add The Botanical Garden from Simeria high to your list of what to visit while you are in Romania. You will feel completely refreshed after just a few hours of walking between exotic species! 🔄

The Botanical Garden from Simeria was my first trip to a arboretum (which happened back in 2014) and since then I visited some more dendrological parks but this one earned a special place in my heart. Even the stories told by the guardian were so much fun that nothing could go wrong, not even the rain. The only thing that I feel sad about is that we couldn't explore the garden as much as we wanted to but we've still got plenty of memories and pictures that keeps this place alive until the next time when we will meet again. I hope you enjoyed our little trip and till the next post, go out there and explore the world!

It's also important to mention that the pictures were taken by my sister Mihaela Valceanu, and some of them are having a smaller resolution as those are already promoted in her portfolio, but you can find them on a larger format here: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.

It certainly looks like I place I would like to visit one day! Thank you for discovering all of these great hidden gems and sharing them on Steemit!

It's my job :D

It looks like a really nice place. Good to know for when I’ll be around Simeria. Great post :)!

Thank youuu ❤️

The fungi grabbed my attention, good pic. The only arboretum I've ever been to is Westonbirt Arboretum in Gloucestershire, Southwest England. We (the ex, 2 kids and I) went there at least once a year and all enjoyed it. I highly recommend it.

Trust me, I'm a doctor.

Heyyyy, I was kidding, just came from the movie and I'm in real good mood haha.
No, seriosly..... really good post @gabrielatravels! This post deserves a prize! :)

Haha, thanks guys 💜

What an amazing botanical garden! The photos are so beautiful and your description is jaw dropping. I wish I lived nearby so I could visit, maybe one day ;) Anyway, I find solace that I can find nature near me as well. Perhaps the greatest botanical garden is nature herself :)

That's right :D thanks for the kind words :)

Very interesting post! And great pictures! I respect your sister.

Maybe it requires a compass if the GPS does not work unless in the entrance they provide you a map. It seems to be a funny adventure :) :)

It really is, memorable too :D

I would love to get lost in here..... maybe sneak in a tent and stay a bit. Thanks for sharing. It really does look beautiful.

Never thought about tent but that's a great idea!

I like that place! Its not like the typical boring botanical garden or museum i remember in my childhood.
In the picture you show all have a sense and are in the proper nature context.
Just 4 persons for maintaining all? It seems a lot of work...
Thank you Gaby for let us know this place and... i like more each day your styling of writing... its moving its improving its goooddd

Yep I'm sure it's a lot of work but probably passion too because it looks really great and welcoming for tourists.
Thank you! :D
