A DUEL AMONG SCHOLARS IN THE MELEE MAYHEM RULESET!

in Splinterlands9 months ago

Ruleset Focus

In this week's Battle Mage Secrets, we'll explore the intriguing dynamics of the MELEE MAYHEM ruleset. This unique ruleset bestows the power upon all Melee units to launch attacks from any position on the battlefield. What's particularly interesting about this ruleset is the widespread adoption of a strategic approach that involves deploying a Melee monster that is equipped with the Bloodlust ability from the backline. This tactic capitalizes on the newfound flexibility in positioning granted by the MELEE MAYHEM ruleset! 💪

Abilities Focus

These abilities empower you to harness the MELEE MAYHEM ruleset to its fullest extent, enabling you to either unleash a barrage of consecutive attacks from the backline
or seize the moment to amplify your strength by eliminating enemy targets.

Double Strike - Monster attacks twice each round.

Bloodlust - Every time it defeats an opponent, it gets +1 to all stats.

Trample - When a Monster with Trample hits and kills its target,
it will perform another attack on the next Monster on the enemy Team.

These abilities allow you to take a defensive stance
against the Melee monsters that you might be facing in the MELEE MAYHEM ruleset.

Shield - Reduced damage from Melee and Ranged attacks.

Thorns - When hit with a Melee attack, does damage back to the attacker.

The Battle

In my alt account, jimbei, I was able to engage in a battle that involves the MELEE MAYHEM ruleset. To get right into the action, the battle link can be found here. Otherwise, do read on as I go into more detail regarding the lineup and fight.

Now, let's dive into the ruleset governing this battle. It's an exceptionally uncomplicated encounter, guided by only a single ruleset and that is none other than the main highlight of today's challenge: the MELEE MAYHEM ruleset, which we've already extensively covered in prior sections. This battle imposes a mana constraint of 21 and prohibits the utilization of the Death Splinter.

Summoner, Grandmaster Rathe

Aside from the Unprotected ruleset, including Grandmaster Rathe in your lineup significantly bolsters your team's durability in any combat scenario. With his +1 Armor and Void Armor abilities synergizing seamlessly, he provides crucial defensive capabilities. Another reason for opting for Grandmaster Rathe was my desire to incorporate a particular monster from the Life Splinter that is particularly effective in the MELEE MAYHEM ruleset ✌️

First Position, Pelacor Conjurer

Pelacor Conjurer stands out as an excellent choice for a cost-efficient tank in this battle. With a mere mana cost of 2, it boasts impressive Speed and Health stats. Complemented by abilities like Magic Reflect, Phase, and Divine Shield, Pelacor Conjurer becomes a formidable opponent against various enemy monsters. The combination of Pelacor Conjurer's Magic Reflect ability and Grandmaster Rathe's Amplify ability enhances its effectiveness, especially when confronting Magic Monsters in the enemy's lineup 😁

Second Position, Soul Fiend

Incorporating a zero-mana-cost monster into your lineup is always a good option to have. Furthermore, Soul Fiend boasts the Swiftness ability, providing a +1 Speed buff to the entire team. Positioning it in the second slot serves a dual function, as it can also absorb potential Blast damage when attacks successfully target Pelacor Conjurer, thereby mitigating the impact on the team's backline, although only for a single attack 😅

Third Position, Celestial Harpy

The Life Splinter provides another cost-effective monster option in the form of the Celestial Harpy. Its remarkable feature is the Opportunity ability, which permits it to target the most vulnerable enemy, often hidden in the rear. It's important to note that the MELEE MAYHEM ruleset does not override the Opportunity ability, unlike other rulesets such as Super Sneak 😜

Fourth Position, Dax Paragon

To be honest, I included Dax Paragon in my lineup primarily because I had exhausted most of my mana on crucial team members for my battle strategy. With only 2 mana remaining, I opted for Dax Paragon due to its unique ability, which I believed could be quite valuable in the battle. The Affliction ability, when applied to a target, prevents that unit from Healing, potentially playing a decisive role in determining the battle's outcome 😇

Fifth Position, Jared Scar

The reason behind selecting the Life Splinter for this battle was due to the utilization of Jared Scar in the presence of the MELEE MAYHEM ruleset. Thanks to its True Strike ability, Jared Scar's attacks are unfailingly accurate, ensuring a reliable and precise offense. The Piercing ability allows Jared Scar to penetrate the opponent's armor, delivering damage that overcomes their defensive measures. Furthermore, the Bloodlust ability amplifies Jared Scar's power, enhancing its strength with every opponent it vanquishes 😤

Last Position, Vulguine

Another remarkably cost-effective monster with a mana cost of just 2 from the Life Splinter, offers exceptional value in the context of the MELEE MAYHEM ruleset due to its efficient backline attacks. Vulguine's Scavenger ability enables the gradual accumulation of Health from fallen units throughout the battle. Moreover, Vulguine possesses the Dodge ability, providing a 25% higher chance to evade Melee and Ranged attacks. Finally, the Enrage ability allows it to experience a 50% increase in both Attack and Speed when not at maximum health, transforming it into a formidable force! 😉

The Analysis

If you've been following my posts for a while, you would know that in addition to playing on my main account, ak08, and my alt account, jimbei, I'm also part of a scholarship program where I play for Balthazar using the account bltzr-wizard-729. Interestingly, in this match, I found myself facing off against a fellow scholar 🤙

My fellow scholar opted for the Water Splinter, and it seemed like the strategy revolved around utilizing Diemonshark's Trample ability whenever it managed to defeat one of my units 🙌

However, my Pelacor Conjurer proved to be an excellent tank, thanks to its high Speed and Flying ability, which made it difficult for the opponent to land hits. This allowed my team to consistently deal damage from the backline, especially with Jared Scar in action. Each time Jared Scar defeated an enemy, the Bloodlust ability activated, further enhancing Jared Scar's strength. In the end, the cumulative damage proved too much for my fellow scholar to handle, and I secured an easy victory! 😆

Do you guys have any better recommendations for setting up the team in this particular ruleset? Do share them with me in the below comments 😜

If you made it this far, I sincerely appreciate your time and value your encouragement. Please feel free to leave any comments or suggestions so that we can discuss about other strategies.
