Dandelion sourdough bread / たんぽぽの花を入れたサワードウのパン

I found my friend was baking bread with dandelion petals on facebook. According to her they give slight honey scent to the bread. How romantic it is!

I picked some dandelion flowers from garden and mixed the petals in my sourdough bread.

Can you see the small yellow dots? Ja it's not easy to find them on this photo without markup ... I should have put the petals really in the end of the kneading process.

I could notice that the smell was a bit different but couldn't taste the sweetness. I looked back my friend's photos and now I see I should have put more petals.

Overall I'm happy to integrate something from garden into my bread. I'll try another loaf with more petals. My daughter is happy to pick them for me 😅

Do you bake a loaf with something from your garden? I do so with some herbs in the summer time. Ah and ramson!! I must find them.


Facebookでお友達がたんぽぽの花びらを入れてパンを焼いているのをみかけました。はちみつのようなちょっと甘い香りがするとのこと。そんなことを聞いたら挑戦せずにいられませんよね😁

結果からいうと、たんぽぽの花びらの量が少なかったようで、はちみつのような匂いや甘味は感じられなかったのですが、庭からとったものをパンに入れられるっていいなあ。

まだまだ山のようにたんぽぽは庭に生えているので、小さい人にお願いしてたくさんとってきてもらって、また挑戦してみます。

それにしてもなんてロマンチックなパンなんだろう。パーマカルチャーに詳しいお友達ならではのパンだなあなどと考えつつ、春のぽかぽかした気持ちでパンを焼けました。

みなさんはパンに何か庭や道端からとってきたものを入れますか?夏はフレッシュハーブを入れたり、今の季節だとギョウジャニンニクもいいですね!

That's so cool, I would have never thought to put dandelion in bread! Dandelion is so healthy for you too. I may have to try that! :D

Wonderful and completly new idea for me... I seldom bake bread with herbs or spices, only focaccia. I am a bit "Gewürzgeschädigt" my parents are from the south and during my youth my father baked many breads and always put "Brotklee" into it. Although it is a wonderful (and sad) memory, I am not a big fan of spices/herbs in bread myself.

This is a marvellous idea!
I love additions to the bread - herbs, cheese, onions - trying flowers would be interesting. I might use only white flour to let the flavour of the flowers shine through.
