As most of you who live in the U.S. and Canada know, February has been a rather snow laden month for those of us who live in the north country. Here in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, we got dumped on pretty good. In some places up near Lake Superior, they got at least 2 feet of snow in this last storm that passed through. While that's not unusual if you look back over the past 50 years or so, the last few years haven't been that bad. This is just turning out to be a typical snowy year.
Here in the south central U.P., we didn't get that much snow. The area that I live in generally gets less snow than the rest of the U.P., and also gets less snow than a lot of north east Wisconsin, south of us. In the last couple of weeks, we've had 3 snow storm systems move across the upper midwest and we have gotten our share of it. We got about 11 inches of snow this last Tuesday, and we got pretty drifted in for a couple of days. It's a good thing that we have a snow blower this year to clear the main paths and the parking area, because I would never be able to shovel that much snow with my lower back being bad.

We seem to be running out of room to put the snow from where we park the cars.
It's a good thing I have a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
We had to clear the side yard walk way. Most of it got done with the snowblower, but out at the road, it's always packed in by the snow plow. We had to break up the ice and packed snow to move it out of the end of the walkway where it meets the street. Here I am in my old barn coat with the scoop shovel. The scoop shovel works well for moving the hard stuff after it's broken up.
The last couple of days have seen the temperature get up close to freezing and possibly a bit over freezing yesterday, so the house has been making big icicles for the past few days. We have a few dandy ones right now.
There are ice dams on the edges of the roof that contribute to the icicles.
We've had quite a bit of snow so far, and winter is only half over here in this part of the country. I was looking at my pictures from last winter, and we had a pretty big snowstorm in the middle of April last year, so who knows how much more snow we're going to get before spring comes. If we're lucky, it won't be too much.

sheeeeeit. that snow pushing looks like work. boulder has been really mellow this winter, its lovely.

Wow, I haven't seen snow like that in many years. It's beautiful but so much work I couldn't handle it lol. Good thing you have a snowblower. Do you do any snowmobiling?
I used to snowmobile when I was younger, but now I don't care much for being out in the cold. That takes all the fun out of winter sports.
I agree! We used to take horses out in the snow many years ago, but I couldn't do it now. Luckily I now live in warmer climes, otherwise my arthritis would lay me low lol. Hang in there, spring is coming!!

Awesome! I would love Yooperland. Unfortunately, my hubby isn't keen on that amount of snow, lol. (I have seriously looked at the Keweenaw before.)
