As of this time of writing, a user will need about 3,450 Hive Power at 100% Resource Credits to be able to claim a free account on Hive, and after every 5 days provided that the RC required for claiming an account does not get higher than the current cost.
We are now using #hiveinvite to claim accounts using our @dbuzz username & HP.

@anonymouser, can you explain what's claiming an account with high cost, and why choose that when there's free hiveonboard?
When you use HiveOnBoard.com, you join using someone's account creation token, and to prevent abuse, email and/or phone verification may be required by the holder of the token.
In other words, you depend on someone's help, and you also potentially compromise your privacy.
Yesss, I noticed an unknown number immediately spammed me after using hiveonboard! Well, I don't say hiveonboard did it. But it happened after I signed up.
That's either a huge coincidence, or it was intentional. Well, I am not saying hiveonboard did it.
