I don’t know if I was one in a past life, but the passion I feel for that activity is very strong, and I’ve had it since I was a little girl.

When I was very young, my mother wouldn’t let me watch that sort of TV series or film, but even so, I remember there was a children’s magazine we could buy from time to time called Billiken. Inside it, there was a case to solve, and in every issue there was a new one. They were episodes called ‘The Cases of Lock Olmo’. He was a detective who solved police cases, and I always liked to know who the villain of the episode was before reading it. Those were the days, the 1980s.
I remember cutting out those pages where the cases were, and then I’d put together a personal folder where I collected them and kept them all, or rather, as many as I could. I imagined I was a private detective solving mysteries and crimes. I’ll never forget that time. I think it’s my first memory of wanting to be an investigator and solve crimes. In my imagination, I was one, and it fascinated me. I always wanted to catch the bad guy, to make him pay for his crimes. I was very much a champion of justice.
Then came a whole host of films and TV series; everything I chose to watch in my teenage years and youth was about police, detectives, investigations, intrigue, crimes and even serial killers. Everything related to it fascinates me; it’s something inside me that I love. When I was a child and played, I was always a police officer or a detective; my imagination was always very vivid and my intuition highly developed. Even today, if I meet someone or see a photo and something tells me to stay away, it’s for a reason. Are they a detective’s hunches? Is that who I was in another life? I don’t know, but it happens to me all the time.

There’s just one thing: I’m quite squeamish about blood, but I think my passion for investigation would be stronger than that, so, without a doubt, out of the three options, I’d choose to be a crime scene investigator with the police. Even as I was reading through the options, my mum was nearby and I asked her: ‘What do you think I’d choose?’ She looked at me, smiling, and said: ‘Crime scene investigator, without a doubt.’ My family knows I’m into this sort of thing.
I love studying the human mind, why people act the way they do, whether it’s because of trauma, childhood experiences, or perhaps genetic information from ancestors. It’s such a fascinating subject. Plus, figuring out the criminal’s next move, if there is one, is another aspect that really grabs my attention. Why did they do it? What were they thinking? What will they do next? Figuring that out and catching them. Those who do wrong will face consequences, and the victim must get justice.
On the other hand, I couldn’t be an A&E doctor; I’d faint at the sight of an operation or having to treat an injury. Although I think I’d do it in an emergency, I wouldn’t be a doctor. Then I thought about being a zookeeper… I like animals, but what if a silverback gorilla escaped? A bear? Feeding snakes? I can’t see myself in that situation. Besides, as soon as I read the third option, it was as if little hearts were popping out of my eyes; I saw nothing but that option.

In real life, I’m not a detective or a police investigator, but I love investigative work, and if someone has done something wrong… they should be punished. I like investigating all sorts of things, including current events, things that are hidden from people, though in that case, I suppose we’ll never know the whole truth… I think.
I’ve loved this topic among the interesting ones @galenkp suggests to us every weekend. Thank you so much for this; I’ve travelled back in time and also talked about my experiences and imagination.
Thank you all so much for joining me today; I wish you a very good weekend. See you soon.

I too like crime dramas and will watch them occasionally. One of my favorites of all time is the series Criminal Minds. I also used to watch Law & Order and all the spin offs. Haven't watched those for a long time though.
Wow!! I absolutely love Criminal Minds!!! Every episode is brilliant, I just love that sort of series! Another series I think is brilliant is Mindhunter! It’s a shame they didn’t make any more series. Thank you so much!
Yes. Mindhunter was good as well.
Have a great weekend!
Good morning, @avdesing—my esteemed and optimistic researcher. I believe that fiction is always a source of solace in a world where criminals always win. Thank you for sharing your reflections.
I hope you enjoy a wonderful Saturday.
They don't always win... in my world, I catch them! They won't get away with it!
It's a topic I've always liked. Thanks! Have a great Saturday!
I hope you catch lots of bad guys...💪The world needs it ☺️

How are you, dear friend @avdesing? Good day.
What beautiful memories you have. Billiken magazines were a classic.
I think I'm one of you; I also love crime movies, and I adore detective films, Sherlock Holmes, and the Lidia Poët series—if you watch it, you'll love it.
I love the weekend challenge.
Have a wonderful weekend!
I knew you'd remember that magazine – it had loads of stuff in it. Perfect for kids. Those series are brilliant!!! Thanks, Luis!!
Hello Amonet, how are you?
I really like these kinds of movies; my grandparents and I used to watch them all the time. I also really hate blood. I could never be a nurse or a doctor.
Your mother definitely knew you very well.
Have a wonderful day!
She's seen me watching those kinds of movies forever, hahaha, thanks a lot!
