Each of us see beauty differently both in others and ourselves.
We're often critical of, and unhappy with, aspects of our appearance which can lead to negative emotions and feelings which usually also affect our actions and outcomes. People can also be very judgemental of others and how they look which comes with a set of issues that can have negative impact.
Beauty can be defined in many ways but, putting them aside, I believe that if a person sees it, then it is so.
If I see beauty in another person, artwork, a garden, or any other thing, then to me that thing is beautiful; that beauty is my reality irrespective of others seeing it or not. It's the same if and when I see beauty in myself.
It's important for a person's well-being, growth and development to reflect inwardly and truly look at themselves. In doing so we can understand ourselves better, who we are in a given moment and who we may wish to be. It's important also to like and love oneself and to see beauty; it's important because if we see it in ourselves it will radiate outwards to others and they may see it too - it also feels good to like oneself.
We may not always like how we look, how our hair sits, our weight or shape, eye or skin colour, height or any other physical aspect, but a person has other elements that should be seen as beautiful.
I know people with a beautiful soul; Caring, generous, understanding and selfless. That's beauty.
I have people around me who have such engaging and enjoyable personalities that exude from deeply within them that it's impossible to resist them. That's beauty.
Some I know people posses a strength of character, honour and integrity that they live stringently by and that's beauty too.
A person is more than just how they look and it's the physical combined with what's inside a person that makes an entire person...beautiful.
There's many forms of beauty, just like a person can be ugly in more ways than one...both cannot exclusively be reserved for or applied to physical appearance. What is consistent between both is that people who look will see them and they will almost always see them differently to others...and to that person what they behold is their reality.

There are as many points of view as there are people, so there are as many types of beauty as there are beings in the world, everyone looks with a different eye, the important thing is to see it and focus on it.
To love oneself is the first thing, when one loves oneself that energy expands and others feel it, it is like positive and negative energy.
Life and everything in it is very beautiful, from an ant to the moon, from our hair to our inner characteristics.
Beautiful reflection Becca, thank you very much!❤️
I agree with you to some degree, although there are many aspects of life and people that are not beautiful at all. Some human beings have the propensity for great evil, selfishness and greed and that can cause others anguish and heartache and that's not beautiful at all.
I sometimes wonder if people who act in those ways, take advantage of and hurt others, love themselves, feel they are a good person and are doing good...probably I guess because their ugly behaviours match their ugly and selfish nature.
The world is full of beauty and beautiful people, but the opposite exists also; a look at the state of the world currently demonstrates that.

Yes, it is true, how many things are happening nowadays that are not nice at all, on the contrary, I don't know what these people have in their hearts, but definitely nothing good, they have bad and they give bad.
You're right Becca, that's reality. A big hug❤️
This reminds of the popular saying: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Of course, judging beauty can be objective too, from symmetry, to signs of good health and cleanliness. But a lot of it is subjective. What can be beautiful to some can be ugly to others.
I really like this statement, and the message of the post as a whole. What I also realized while I was absorbing the message, is that what people see in others can be a reflection of their inner self. If all one see is ugliness in people, it is possible that they are ugly on the inside. By seeing the beauty in others, those are the beautiful things you possess and easily recognize.
Hmm, you raise an interesting point and to some degree I believe it's probably true. I don't think, however, that it's wise to blindly see people as good either...we all know there are bad people in the world and not seeing it could be problematic. I suppose, all we can really do is perceive others in our own ways and based on how those people act.
