Tie-Dyed Pops

in Foodies Bee Hive3 years ago

My sister's daughter's birthday party is just around the corner. And, this year she's requested for the theme to be "Tie Dye". Fun! So I'll be posting more tie dye treats in the days to come but here's a sample of the pops I made for the party.

These are marshmallow pops and they are SO easy to make! I have posted step-by-step photos to see how I swirled the colors. (The full recipe for marshmallow pops is also posted below) - Enjoy!

Put the colors of your liking in a double boiler and DON'T stir! Let it melt gently. This could take 20 minutes or so.

Once they have melted -- don't stir or it will be a muddy mess! take the marshmallow on a stick and swirl it gently in the middle to capture all three colors. Lift and done!

-one package of large marshmallows
-several packages of colored chocolate (I use the Wilton Candy Melts, pictured to the right
-pop or lollipop sticks
-non-pariells or any sprinkle of choice

  1. Melt candy melts according to package (in microwave or double boiler, I use a double boiler method). When it's melted the it will stay melted for a while. So you don't have to rush.

  2. Take a marshmallow in one hand, a stick in the other and dip the end of the stick into the candy melt a little bit before you put the stick into the marshmallow. It helps hold the marshmallow to the stick.

  3. Dip the marshmallow in the candy/chocolate.

  4. Sprinkle with desired sprinkles or decorations.

Important note! When you are assembling and displaying them, you'll want them to stand upright. I used a small container filled with rice on the bottom and beans on the top to hold the sticks. Some people prefer styrofoam. I didn't have any on hand and used things from my cabinet.

Wow, great idea. ... but the pumpkin donut pops take the prize in my mind. Pretty cool.
