Goa Goa Gone

in #goa8 years ago (edited)

As someone who spends way too much time in my flat in London I am always thinking about going away, especially now I have some extra Steem! The trouble is that after years living in the city it is easy to get set in your ways and become fearful of change.

Last year I went to The Gambia in West Africa with a friend, it was pretty crazy, so crazy that I left after four days. A few months later I booked a ticket for myself to Koh Samui in Thailand, a friend was there and I thought it would be a perfect getaway however when it came down to it I couldn't face the huge journey which involved changing flights in Kuala Lumpar etc, so I bottled it and didn't go. I was pretty depressed about spending £700 on a ticket that I didn't use but soon forgot about it and resumed my predictable existence in West London.

There was a short trip to Tenerife with my buddy who spent most of his time doing coke and frequenting strip clubs so it wasn't exactly a spiritual journey and more like fear and loathing in Playa de las Americas.

As winter started to draw in towards the end of last year I started to get the bug to leave again, I saw that you can get a direct flight to Goa for relatively cheap. I spoke about it to my friends and they all persuaded me to go, so I booked it for Jan. Then suddenly I started to have my doubts, would I get ill? Would I get bored? What if what if....

I wondered if I had made another mistake and wasted another £700 on tickets etc, it would be embarrassing to do that again, most of my friends don't have money to throw away like this and as the date drew nearer I would have long discussions about the pro's and cons of such a trip. One friend insisted on driving me to the airport and made sure that I got on the plane and by some miracle I actually did.

After a 9 hour flight and an hour in a taxi I am at the beach here in Goa and writing my first proper post for a while..

Yep..I'm enjoying it now!

I am sorry about the problems you are experiencing right now ,,, hopefully enjoy the music and also enjoy the beauty of the beach galaunya can be lost ... if I usually to get rid of the mess, I go to the beach and sound as big as possible so that my problems will naturally go out in line with out my voice.

I'm glad you got out of your slump!

I definitely know what it's like to fall victim to living in the city. I lived in the "city" here, although it can hardly be called that, for most of my adult life.

I had been talking about getting out of there for the better part of 5 years before I finally did this past August. Since leaving I have found myself much more willing to go out and do things I previously hesitated about.

Glad to see you got to Goa. Cheers!

Starting to get that feeling

I also often experience turmoil ... sometimes I think this is reality in life. sometimes like and sorrow mood ,,, all those things will we experience ... my habits if I'm more upset I like to watch funny videos, because for me by watching funny videos can relieve stress or amusing .... keep the spirit and strive to positive thinking @bleepcoin.

Yes I have become a bit of more nervous as of late, wasn't always like this..I used to live with little regard of the consequences, as long as I had fun..guess I am taking after my late mother who was always worrying. My Dad was the opposite so maybe there is some conflict unresolved? Thanks for the reality check

maybe this is the name of life sometimes the disappointment we get sometimes the pleasure of being patient and will get the best solution spirit @bleepcoin
