Statement of originality-I have never posted this content anywhere else before...

Thanks! You posted your submission at the exact same time we were adding this requirement to the step-by-step instructions.

Posted as #0002.

Good luck!

(PS: The URL for the pic would not resolve properly, so it could not be included).

no problem. Thanks for posting!

Wow.. this is a nice initiative.

Sadly, I'll have to wait for 76 days more to make 90days.

Nevertheless, it's an clever initiative and I hope it's sustained and everyone who passes the requirements be given a chance.

Nice one this information is vita and I want everyone in this community to key on to it.

I saw the previous post by @trostparadox concerning the project and now it has been brought to life.

Amazing.

This is such a great initiative. I'd love to see how it all plays out.

Wow, this is a really dope initiative. Reblogged, and will be back in a few minutes.

Ready for review.

Posted as #0001, then deleted because of this.

Ouch! Can't believe we missed this on our first ever submission.

This post violated the "never been published before" rule (which the submitting author presumably didn't realize, because it was in the FAQ but not in the step-by-step instructions).

To protect against future authors inadvertently making the same mistake, we have revised the submission instructions to explicitly require a "Statement of Originality" (which includes a statement that the content has never been previously published).

Also, the one curator who voted for this submission prior to our finding, announcing, and 'fixing' the problem has been reimbursed 150% of their would-have-been curation rewards.

This is great.

Hi there,

I am not quite sure how to evaluate this project ...

For no tool exists to effectively detect plagiarism. A related debate with Hive-Watchers has highlighted such. Manual sifting and matching is necessary to detect plagiarism. How do you guarantee that those who are entrusted with this task will do it flawlessly? I don't think you can promise that, and the question of how careful these plagiarism checks can actually be is open to question. Rather, I think that the mere announcement of wanting to carry out this check should build trust. Where, for example, a plagiarism check fails and someone who is not paid to do such a check would probably be quite embarrassing for the operators.

So I think this benefit is rather small and not necessarily a USP.

I see it more as a psychological barrier that takes several steps to make those who would submit plagiarism aware of it, thereby appealing to their conscience from the outset. Of course, someone who doesn't care and skips this stumbling block with ease will still not be deterred :) The more effort someone makes with stolen content, the more difficult it is to expose him as a plagiarist, and at some point it has reached a limit where such content can hardly be identified.

I haven't really understood the rest yet. Is it the case that if I wanted to make my content available here, I would first visibly insert my entire post, including text and images, into the comments section, then delete it and make it available for re-viewing? Still don't understand how that preserves the anonymity of the authors ...

Edit:
alright, I see it now. Just followed it to the site.

... I don't know. Maybe, if a person has only one account and wants to post something, which one usually would not do under ones profile, this could be a way to cover up the identity.

It also could be fun to test whether readers can be attracted when not relating the content to a known name and so be more "unbiased". That would require not to sift through the commentators section in order to not being tempted to guessing authors. LOL

All in all it sounds complicated with the repair stuff, in case some one is detected later on as a copy and paster.

no tool exists to effectively detect plagiarism.

We are using some of the best available technology. However, you are correct -- no tool is perfect or fully effective. At some point, we may offer bounties for those who discover plagiarism that we missed, to increase the stakes and make the system even more robust.

That is correct. After you delete it and replace the content with "Ready for review" we will retrieve the deleted content and begin the review.

Still don't understand how that preserves the anonymity of the authors ...

There is no absolute anonymity implied (only a blind upvote process). In fact, the intent of the project is to get relatively unknown authors recognized. Mostly, their recognition will come via the weekly leaderboard updates. However, a curator who likes a given post can easily check to see who the author is (by looking at the beneficiary list), then follow that author.

Alright, thanks for your answers.

I just copy you my idea, which I already commented on the deleted proofofblind post.

How about content from one, two or three years ago, posted, for example, on Steemit? Some of my works I would like to give fresh live to. They sunk into the depth of the chain or were not read by many people, were not catching many votes, but still have potential to catch interest this time than they did in the past? I wouldn't be able to write it better than I did in the past.

Why not including my own work, where I put many hours and efforts into and make them visible again? None of those publications appeared anywhere else but on the blockchain, and as we all know, almost no one surfs single blogs for contents older than 7 days (or, say a months or two). This would be a good opportunity to profit more than once, since the readership and members of the blockchain changed quite a lot.

I don't think it's necessary to be so slavish about declaring one's own content "ad acta" and thus "done for all time". All that would be needed is the additional passage that this is a publication that has already taken place, no?

Do you have high-stake-accounts on board?

Back in the old days, for example with steemstem, you could expect with a high probability that your submission would be significantly voted or visited/commented.

Several of us have already followed the account to upvote it, giving it a higher probability of a sizeable upvote.

I have no idea how to put myself on a voting-trail since I left Steemit and abandoned all further devices. I tried to un-delegate my delegation to SteemSTEM and did so in steemworld.org, but for some strange reason, my hive account still shows this delegation (also another one to a single user who blogs no more). If that is what you were talking about. Or do you just follow manually?

I follow it manually. Someone just did a post on how to join a trail. Maybe you can find it on the site, I don't know the site, and cut it there? I like holding the power of my vote in my hands but also understand the value of letting a trail curate for you.

I switched from auto- to manual vote where it was possible. For my old trails, they stay, for I don't know how to take them back into my hands (until I find someone who knows). Thanks for the info.

Ready for review.

Fabulous @trostparadox, thank you for sharing these with me earlier today. I'd love to curate proofofblind posts and would drop in the odd submission myself. What a fabulous idea to bring students into the fold and encourage positive and constructive engagement and curation whilst providing much-needed exposure and support to new authors on the Hive.

Things are starting out kinda slow on the content submissions side, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. My students are still working on getting processes in place so they can handle an influx of submissions.

In any event, it will be interesting to see how things play out.

That's understandable. It's a new "game" probably for all of them. And getting the underlying processes resolved upfront is the right thing to do. I don't know how many times I've seen fantastic ideas crash and burn in the work sphere because in the end, without standardised practices and processes holding up the fort, the actual implementation turned to chaos, with haphazard disjointed approaches being taken by all and sundry. It's best to take your time with these things and develop solid foundations upon which to build. As for content submission, it probably just needs some time to become more well known as a project. The more reblogs you can get the better. I will submit something soon, just have a few commitments already made that I need to keep too and I'll send something in. All the best, and I'll keep checking in each week :-)

without standardised practices and processes holding up the fort, the actual implementation turned to chaos, with haphazard disjointed approaches being taken by all

This is actually why I advised my son, who aspires to be an entrepreneurial owner / manager of multiple businesses, that his ideal job out of college would be to work for a large company (i.e. thousands of employees) for about 5 years or so, and pay careful attention to their processes. You cannot scale a business without solid, robust processes -- no matter how good the product or service.

And, that's what he is doing. He's working for a software company with 10k+ employees. I have no doubt that he may someday be running his own business (or multiple businesses) with 10k+ employees.

Sound advice indeed! :-) He will get really good exposure to how easily things break down without having the right building blocks in place. He can only draw positives from that.

Wow is extremely good one, it give a unique steps. total rewards, etc. The leaderboard will be a useful feature for manual curators to discover new content creators to follow.

How do I submit my original content?
Sometime in the future, we hope to streamline the submission process to make it easier and more seamless.

Here is the initial process for submitting a post to the Proof of Blind project:

Write your original content, including each of the following elements:
TITLE = Title you want to give the post. (Required)
BODY = Your original content (Required)
STATEMENT OF ORIGINALITY = Your submission must include this statement: "This submission represents original content, created by me, that has never been published before, on Hive or elsewhere." (Required)
TAGS = What keywords best describe what your post is about. You may also include tribe-specific tags, such as “leofinance” (however, we will only include tribe-specific tags that we deem relevant). (One Required)
HOW I FOUND PROOF OF BLIND = Please let us know the individual or Hive user who was most influential in you coming to Proof of Blind (Optional),with this step it will make we novice to set up more ideas and make it happen, once again tanks so much for putting this across.

We have begun reviewing your submission (thanks for participating!). A couple things to note:

  • You have 4 images, but only 1 has a reference. As stated in the instructions, if you include images that are your own, you need to include a statement such as “I affirm that all images that do not have an ‘Image Source’ link after them are my own original work and that I own the rights to publish them.” You can just add that to your statement of originality comment.
  • We are preparing to automate the process of scraping submissions. In the future, be sure to use the phrase "Ready for review" after you complete your submission, or your submission might get overlooked.

OK. I will check that.

“I affirm that all images that do not have an ‘Image Source’ link after them are my own original work and that I own the rights to publish them.”

Thank you.

I absolutely have a lot of questions do you guys have a discord?

And as for physical violence can I threaten to kick my own butt? I mean sometimes I really do test my own patients so I mean is it allowable for me to threaten my own self?

Especially say if I need to get out and go work out however I've been pretty lazy and my own posterior needs a kicking?

What about if my puppy dog beat me up with his tail does that count as violence as well?

Anyway I'm following you and a few of these accounts but I'm kind of clueless on a lot of things I might need a little bit of explanations however thank you very much I really appreciate it.

At first I thought “well I can’t imagine this being useful for most Hive users” because I still think of Hive users as independent content creators and investors, but if we imagine Hive (or something built on Hive) being a place where students and teachers could interact, this suddenly becomes a brilliant tool! Great job.

For now the set up probably works fine but in the future, you could create a proof of blind token where students (or professors) who want to make their work public and use their own name to submit it could do so. You’d have to figure out the tokenomics for this, would submissions pay a hive fee, or would they buy a certain amount of the token and burn it? Some combination of both?

If you did make a front end you could have truly anonymous submissions too, by adding a submission field that’s not connected to the blockchain and only visible to admins. This would be nice for work that students (or professors) feel is more sensitive or that they might worry about attaching their name to publicly. This may even expand the role of your project.

Wowww, Great innovation. The project is very great and the Initiative is amazing.
What a project! I see impactful potential here.
