Hi Everyone
This is my version of a song called Statues by a Scottish musician named Amy McDonald.
I want to add this one to a set I can use to go busking here in Scotland during the summer months.
I figure songs like this that start using a major chord and have that "feel good" factor are probably the best ones to use for busking sets.
The way I see it is that if I am playing in the streets most people wont stay to listen to a whole song , they will hear part of a song as they walk past.
At best the average listener is going to hear only seconds or possibly a couple of minutes of my song so I should try to make as much of an impact in that time as I can.
This song is by a Scottish pop artist and its played on the radio here enough times that its pretty familiar to a general audience, meaning that its likely some people will recognise it and appreciate my version.
This is what I have come up with for this song...any feedback is much appreciated.
Edit: I just realised after I posted this that its my 1000th post here on hive :D!
"Statues"
Amy McDonald
There's a girl across the street
She's just trying to find her way
She's coming to my house
I see her every day
Her mom and dad are busy
They never have the time
To listen to her feelings
What's playing on her mind
All the children stand like statues
On the street where I came from
It's a street where nothing changes
But the road where I belong
Now the cherry blossoms fall
And the nights are drawing in
Oh I'm standing here unfrozen
As the world turns 'round again
The playground bell keeps ringing
The moving van appears
Theres a sight about to happen
That we haven't seen for years
A family's moving in
I never thought I'd see
On the street where nothing changes
A girl thats meant for me
I watch from across the street
I don't know what to say
Time will tell if we'll be friends
But that's another day
All the children stand like statues
On the street where I came from
It's a street where nothing changes
But the road where I belong
Now the cherry blossoms fall
And the nights are drawing in
Oh I'm standing here unfrozen
As the world turns 'round again
Now the cherry blossoms fall
And the nights are drawing in
Oh I'm standing here unfrozen
As the world turns 'round again
There's a girl across the street
She's just trying to find his way
Shes coming to my house
I see her every day
Her mom and dad are busy
They never have the time
To listen to her feelings
What's playing on her mind
All the children stand like statues
On the street where I came from
It's a street where nothing changes
But the road where I belong
Now the cherry blossoms fall
And the nights are drawing in
Oh I'm standing here Im frozen
As the world turns 'round again

Hello greetings from Venezuela....Congratulations on your 1000th publication.... Excellent video in black and white. The voice is louder than the guitar and those very good. A lovely melody that I had the opportunity to listen twice because of how beautiful it is. Thanks for sharing.
Congratulations for these 1000 publications and may they be many more, this is a beautiful song and you have made a beautiful cover, thanks for sharing your music with us.
Have a nice day!
