RE: What is Education?

Being able to look at something from others’ perspectives is a blessing.

My brother and I talked about this the other day. Seeing something from another perspective doesn't mean you agree with it. However you can gain an understanding. Good or bad.

I know many incredibly smart people who block out other perspectives.

Sadly I do as well. Are they that smart then?

Being aware of blocking them out kind of means that you're not blocking them out. And the idea is to learn new perspectives - everyone blocks them out. I don't think anyone alive would be able to have learned all perspectives. Life is too short for that. Which I will explore in another post I'm thinking about a lot. I watched "The Sandman" and was surprised by the philosophical depth of the series. Especially the character of Hob, who has lived over 650 years and still wants to keep living, despite "having felt it all", as he says. Why? Because of a new experience he made, a new perspective he acquired. Very different from Borges' the Immortals.

Thanks for the tip!
