What is the most expensive daily item? [10 STEEM Bounty]

expensive.jpg

Hi everyone! Help me out with a little survey. I am trying to find out what is the most expensive daily item/necessity in your opinion. Select an option and explain why is that the most expensive in your opinion. It will be great to also let me know which part of the world you are from. The results will be featured in one of my future posts.

This is my first Dpoll (https://dpoll.xyz/) survey and I am going to attach a 10 Steem bounty (https://www.steem-bounty.com/) to gather more results. So kindly help with the survey and spread the word. If you are not a DPoll user, just leave a comment for this post and there is still a chance to win some Steem bounty.

Thanks in advance!

Hey man, I am from Western Canada and here the greatest expense is definitely housing, either owning or renting. In my area lots of people are "house poor" meaning they work to earn, to afford their mortgage.

Housing prices are so crazy a 2 bedroom apartment we owned, that was 10 years old, and had some problems in terms of construction, sold in 5 days, with multiple offers, $50,000 ABOVE asking price, and without any subjects.

We sold our place for $440,000 and it was only 880 square feet, a small 2 bed, 2 bath.

If that isn't crazy I dont know what is.

Thanks for sharing. I think properties are certainly among one of the most unaffordable things in life. We usually slave our entire life to pay off the mortgage

House and Transport and Utilities are all Necessity items, and hard to evade. You are kind of forced to consume them somehow regardless of the price.

Other items are more controllable, like cigarettes, beer, whisky, gambling, all the vices really.

I would say the most expensive item is Gambling, coz you dont really get anything back ! (that is if you indulge in it)

Gambling is certainly a money blackhole. There is no limit to how much it can suck in. Haha..

Since you get nothing towards your future by renting either I would have to say its the most costly and many cannot live without

I am on a 90 day tourist visa in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and I know from friends who live here permanently that buying a house is out of reach for many. Few people I know own their home or condo and many live in shared rentals like me.

Since I came from California and lived in Thailand before coming here, I can say that every single thing here is cheaper than in California, and most daily need are maybe 10-20% more expensive than in Thailand.

Thanks for the comment!

I live in California USA and buying a house is out of reach for most people. Renting is expensive, but at least you can share and do not need a huge payment in advance. Houses are so expensive here that people move away to afford one some where else.

Especially lately...it's still a seller's market at least in most of Florida :)

Thanks for sharing your perspective on this!

in my opinion is the purchase of the house itself, we spend most of our lives working to purchase the so dreamed house itself. and many can not even make this purchase and spend their entire life paying rent. many have option of a simple home and others a more sophisticated, but this taste varies according to the rendad of each one.

Cigarettes and tobacco can be very expensive in some countries and regular smokers sometimes spend more than 20$ daily in some countries to satisfy their addiction. The same applies to alcohol and other substances which may cause dependence.

Thanks for the comment. I didn't really consider cigarettes as an daily items. But I suppose it is indeed a daily need for some :)

I am from Myanmar (Burma). There are three things for people daily : to eat, to take a dress, to live . Among them, we believe that to live somewhere is the most important thing. So we try to own a house. World population increases as a tidy. It is difficult to own a house.

I am from Germany and in my country the most expensive good to buy is also a house.
A house which lies in a village, in a bad location, costs about $60.000 until $130.000. If a hous lies in a medium town ( with a population between 13.000 - 21.000) it cost about $250.000 until $450.000. Renting an appartment cost about $1.200 per month in a modern town which has a population between 11.000 -22.000 inhabitants.

I choose this answer coz if you buy on credit, then taking into account loan interest, this opnion in my opinion will be the most expensive.
this answer I choose for Russia.

Thanks for the comment. The initial outlay to buy a house is certainly costly in many countries

I did feature this poll in my best poll Selection post because I love the fact that it indicated additional comments and has a bounty on it.

I am from Africa, Cameroon to be precise. Cars are very expensive to buy and to maintain here as well. This is because our government and other factors have made it so.

Taxes place on cars (imported cars) in most cases more are than the selling price in the foreign country where the car was imported.

Also, there are huge taxes on private car owners and these taxes are being placed by the government and some local organization.

Moreover, there is huge lack of respect to these car owners. They are harassed at checkpoints and even when some of them have their taxes and documents in tact, they are forced to bribe before going through.

To end it all, the also a problem of lack of experts in car repairs. Our local mechanics have insufficient knowledge about cars and car parts. Most of them get repairs done using try by error.

It is very difficult to manage a private care in Cameroon.

Thanks for the detailed comment!

I live in San Antonio Texas. I'm retired.
My cars are paid for. My house is paid for.
My phone runs $2 a day. I spend approximately $20 per day on food.

I choose transport(private) because this is a luxury in my country. House rent would follow this because people get kicked out for not paying house rent but most try to pay up as its necessary. But transport (private car) is my 1st pick

Same here. Having a car in my country is also quite expensive

It depends on your personality and on your needs.
And it also depends on where (in which country) you live.
You can buy a car with (even less than) $500 USD, and you can also buy a car with $1 million USD or more.
This can go with almost everything.

Thanks for your perspective

@culgin, I've voted for Food & Drinks.

Basic is the Foundation in any case otherwise the Foundation will going to collapse. So, without food and water we are not there so without any doubt Food & Drinks are vital daily things. Have a great time ahead.

Food and drinks are certainly necessities. But are they expensive in your country?
