Lalaport ららぽーと ブキッ ビンタン シティ センター

One of the most significant landmark in Kuala Lumpur city center, is actually a jail, we call it PUDU JAIL. The place was recently taken down as the new jail has been constructed out of town, and the place has been vacant for years until a development set their foot on, tear down the jail and built a mall here.

Mall name Lalaport, not exactly sure why is it call that. But Lala somehow gave me a different idea.

Malice in lalaland

Hey buddy, this is not a prawn movie review post. I'm just gonna leave that out of the door. I'm just saying calling this place a Lalaport made me think otherwise. Nevertheless, it's a new mall, so we thought might as well pay a visit since we're already in town, and we're looking forward to find food for dinner since we had our evening mass at the church.

image.png

Problem is, the mall is too darn new and the occupancy rate is relatively low. Despite they're having an event at the concourse, giving out free vouchers serve absolutely no purpose at a mall that has so little to offer for the time being.

image.png

One of the major anchor tenant, I believe will be this Nojima electrical and household shop. Another being Hitomi home decor lifestyle store. As you can see, there's so many flower arrangement out there, their client and supplier sending wishes for their outlet grand opening at this mall.

image.png

I spent like 5 minutes browse around the mall, couldn't find an convenient place for food, not even a McDonald's is ready, so we proceed to the top floor and look for food court. It's been awhile since I had a cotton candy, was a pleasant surprise to see them had a booth here selling. The smell of the candy floss really makes me mouth watering despite I'm breathing through a face mask.

After spent another couple of minutes browsing through the entire food court, it seems there's not much outlet are in operation. Most of them still under renovation. Some of the stall does have something to offer, by the time we approach, they told us sold out. I guess, we are indeed too darn early this time. Early as in we came crashing into a soft opening instead. The mall probably not ready yet.

image.png

We wanted to grab some chicken rice for the junior. Nam Heong is one of the significant shop in my home town Ipoh, never expect we get to see them here. But still, justifying by the queue, I'd expect it's gonna be a long haul before I will be able grab something to eat.

image.png

Before we get to our turn, more people are pouring in and thinking of couple of days later we will be back to my home town anyway, so we decided to just call it off and be ready to get the hell outta here. Didn't manage to take picture on the way out, to figured the whole mall only has 1 entrance and exit, 1 as in both entry and exit at the same place. Therefore, took us almost 15 minutes to squeeze out of the parking facilities which charged a Kuala Lumpur price.

May be I'm supposed to move this mall review to a later stage, but let's put this up in the record, the mall is not ready yet. Perhaps in the future, more shops are opened and may be the mall will rearrange the parking entry and exits, or may be more eatery will be available. Finger crossed

Dodgy alley

We headed to one of the dodgy end of the city at Jalan Ipoh. It was one of the older township in Kuala Lumpur. There's nothing much happening here, but we do know one of the shop here offer good traditional food, at an affordable price, but in a decently clean and airconditioned restaurant.

image.png

We ordered a fried noodle strip and a plate of sweet and sour pork. Two bowl of white rice for the junior and let them share. We love the food here and the price if really affordable.

image.png

The only thing that I wasn't really impressed, is the dodgy alley that leads to the parking paying machine. Parking within the compound is indeed safer than throwing the car by the road side. But thinking of later need to walk through this path going to the payment machine, seriously I had to look back several times to ensure I'm not being followed. Even that, I'm still worrying if I can outrun the criminal.

image.png

Apologize that I couldn't give a full introduction of the shop, was too darn hungry after browsing through the mall to find nothing suitable to eat, and ended up here. We've discovered this place after the 1st lockdown being lifted some 2 years ago. And it was fortunate the restaurant survived through all 3 lockdowns and we looking forward to revisit over and over again(except the parking machine).

Somehow i felt like i saw that movie somewhere 😂😂

Last weekend i went to Berjaya Times Square. The traffic was bad, and it is due to Lalaport.

Maybe weekend ini mau pergi sana

I only hope they have more entrance and exits. Getting in is already a nightmare, getting out is an entire different chapter of thriller.

I think the developers really missed an opportunity to convert the jail to a shopping facility of some kind. Well, rest-assured, I would run any real-estate business directly into the ground within a few months. Even though I've almost never bought anything in places like this, they are absolutely awe-inspiring, especially if you've been in the countryside for too long and haven't seen anything more than a two-story building in ages.

The last shot does indeed look ready for a zombie attack of some kind.
