Hive is beginning to take off in Cuba?

Uptick in Posting in Spanish

Overall right now, the number of Hive posts is pretty stagnant. Given the depth of the crypto bear market, there's an argument that we can't expect much better than that. However in 2023 we do seem to be seeing growth in our largest demographic - South American Hispanics.

In February and March so far, Hive has been more Hispanic than it has been in a year, getting close to the all time high again.

Venezuelans?

In past analyses, I would have assumed that this represented exclusively Venezuelans, however looking at the small subset of users put location in their profile, it seems like the growth of new Venezuelan users is too few to explain it.

However there is an increase in depositors to @orinoco, which does suggest increased usage by Venezuelans.

A Newer Group of Hispanic Hivers

Instead, another tag is seeing recent growth that may show what's going on.

Posts Tagged 'cuba' Per Month.png

The 'cuba' tag reached an all time high in January. While the number of posts is low, most people don't add their country as a tag to every post. Let's look at active users with 'Cuba', 'Havana' or 'Habana' in their profiles. This will only be a small subset of the full Cuban Hive userbase.

Conclusion

The increasing number of Cuban users along with modest growth among Venezuelan users may explain the increasing number of Spanish posts in an otherwise quiet time for Hive.

Good stats! Happy to see the @hivecuba community grow!

Hive progress is really impressing, and I'm pretty sure, it will continue to impress as the time passes. I'm happy to see new Communities/tags are getting more users and discussions. It's a win win.

I'm so happy to see this numbers exactly in places where Hive can help the most! This is our chance to shine. Thanks for stats!

If only the English would start piling on (or even the Irish 😃).

Great to see Spanish numbers increasing. Have noticed a little more in thread and my interactions, but have noticed Cuba some too. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the statistics and for the support you all gave us in the course initiative. Thank you for trusting us.

I have not received any requests yet for an account. I hope to get at least some requests before you start a class, it could be quite a bottleneck if everyone needs to wait or if you're relying on me being available to create the accounts immediately.

Don't worry, we are doing them over there, each user has to do his work and sacrifice, we don't want lazy people. So far we have opened a few. The ones that can't be done will take the post rewards for that, that's what it was intended for. And in the last case we will bother you and eddie. Thanks a million.

It's great to see how the presence of more people in Hive is growing. Hopefully with @newnow497 's new initiative we will be able to train more hivers and start their life in this web 3.0 with a good base.
Thanks for this post!

What a joy to see how hive is expanding in Latin America. It is undoubtedly another example of how much can be achieved when there is effort and dedication. It is an honor to be part of this great blockchain that is hive. I hope many more join us. Best regards.👍

We are getting stronger over time, thanks for this awesome post!

We are going to keep working hard to get every Cuban on Hive.

I hope we will see Hive break out in various niches. It may just take a few people really pushing it in their communities. I've created a little cluster amongst my musician friends. I do get that it can be hard work though.

The really cool thing is, one community taking off or just becoming established can really make it easier for an adjacent community to get going. I will try and investigate further, but I suspect the size of the Spanish-speaking Venezuelan community on Hive has likely made it easier for the Cuban community to get going, for one thing providing content in the same language, but also potentially allowing the exchange infrastructure to be available and more liquid. I have seen that @orinoco is available in other South and Central American countries, but I haven't confirmed that it's also available in Cuba.

I have not been able to interact with orinoco, we use coinex. I can't tell you if there is a way to use orinoco. Anyway we have @hiveremesas.

Hive is gaining massive exposure as day goes by and as new users are joining the platform

The Cuban community is growing, a great campaign is being carried out by the Cuban community in Hive to add more Cubans every day. Great attention is also given to the training of new members.
Thank you for the statistical data.

I think that those are the communities that are putting the most work into growth on the ground. They seem to have some very active users that are creating content, going out into the real world, creating marketing materials and pushing their own growth.

It's nice to see that it can have an effect. Especially in those areas where the money might be most needed. It's an extra incentive for them to join and be active.

It is very positive sign for the hive community that number of users are increasing day by day that means people getting more interest in this project which is very good.

#HIVE and the crypto-world are coming to Cuba and Venezuela to stay. It is an opportunity for a good meeting with the web3 ecosystem. We're going to grow up.

Glad to see. The way we see it becoming more popular in Spain and also in many popular other countries is that more people are using it now. I am also trying to get all my friends on it and some of them I have taken you because I know it is a very good and strong project. Thanks for sharing this informative states.
