I’ve been noticing much more synchronicity happening in my day-to-day life lately. I’ll give you one example. Our son loaned me one of his books—Too Much and Not the Mood by Durga Chew-Bose. I hadn’t heard of the author but was intrigued after reading the first page. The book is a collection of essays that border on prose-poetry.

I keep a growing stack of business cards I've collected from my travels and when I begin reading a new book I grab a random one from the stack to use as a bookmark. The business cards serve the dual purpose of keeping my place in the book as well as reminding me of my trip whenever I see it.
When I began Too Much and Not the Mood I took the top card from the sizable stack and it was this one.

Sports De Combats was a business in Montreal that my friend Juan and I visited about five years ago on one of our last trips together. We hurled axes, spears, and knives at wooden targets. The experience was testosterone-boosting, stress-relieving, and an whole lot of fun. They also had archery ranges and a “rage room” where you could put on a helmet and padded gloves and break old dishes and other random things for a solid hour.
Back to the book...from the first few pages I was immediately captivated by Durga Chew-Bose’s writing. Her pure, stream of consciousness style pulled me right in and ignited my imagination. There is something magical about her ability to make me feel as though I was inside her head reading her thoughts. It’s like experiencing it in unison. I’ve never read a book quite like it.
As it usually does, my curiosity got the best of me and I started to do a little research on the author. Where was she from? Canada. Not just Canada—more specifically, Montreal.
Some would call this coincidence but those of use who embrace the mysteries of life would refer to this as synchronicity. For me it feels like a cosmic nod, a meaningful glitch in the matrix. I view these kinds of experiences as reminder from something much larger and more profound than us saying "You're on the proper path, this experience was meant for you."
Have you noticed little moments of synchronicity in your own life? If so, and you feel comfortable doing so, share them in the comments below.
All for now. Thanks so much for reading.
None that I can think of right now, but I am sure they are all around us!
They tend to become more noticeable once you're looking out for them. Some would say this is the "Baader-Meinhof phenomenon" but I like the "meaningful glitch" theory better. : )
I don't know if this counts as moments of synchronicity, but as we visit various places around Seattle area we keep finding that we were in all the same places with my wife around the same time for about ten years prior to us meeting during a photoshoot at my then lake house. It was interesting, we went shopping at the same supermarket for 10 years, she had her regular hairdressing place next to the Yoga studio where I did hot power yoga for years, I shot many corporate events at the same Hilton where she had many corporate events of her own and the list goes on... We never met, because I am sure I would have noticed a hot looking, thin, sharply dressed and blond VP of Marketing :)
Like you said: "...a meaningful glitch in the matrix."
Also, I was in Montreal, Canada in 1999 doing my Entry Level Program training for Fujitsu Consulting :)
I'd say that totally counts. It's almost as if you two were destined to meet at some point, or at least the odds were putting it in your favor. I never tire of hearing these kinds of stories. I think there is a loose framework of grand design taking place in most people's lives. It's just a matter if we make ourselves conscious of it or not. Becoming conscious of it is a huge advantage and can save a whole lot of time.
Very cool! I bet it was a wild place back then. I didn't make it to Montreal until 2017 and then visited five more times over the years. It's a lovely and fun city. I'm trying to convince my wife to go.
