Look at what we are doing to this world. What a sad state we are in. It’s hard enough to find peace in this world when dealing with self-cherishing, greed and selfishness. Those who seek peace are so often distracted by all the noises that surround us. That we’ve created as false happiness and success.
Tired of summer heat and haze we long for the clear cool days of autumn, but they never came. The air cooled but the haze remained. No longer can we call this a seasonal change, it is a constant. A constant reminder of the destruction that we are creating in this world. And yes, we are all part of it. Even I, as I type, on a computer that was manufactured in a factory that perhaps has lenient laws and restrictions in order to keep the price affordable to the consumer. Me, you all of us. And so what? Now the air we breathe is toxic. And what is the solution? Shut those factories down and change our lifestyle? No. What’s the corporate solution? Sell us clarity. Sell us air purifiers that are built in factories that cause pollution. Sell us masks to cover our faces. Sell us apps, filters, eye drops, lenses, glasses. All to blind us from the truth.
The truth is we are destroying this world.
Humans, we humans are so foolish. It’s right in front of our faces and yet we remain blind.
This perfect world is here for us.
It’s beauty.
Fresh air, flowing rivers and waterfalls. A clear sky and a starry night. The sweet music of summer when the crickets are chirping. The sounds of spring as the ground breathes again, birds sing and life is in the air. And yet, we hide from all of this. We cage ourselves in, shying away from the true beauty of this world. Only to feed our minds with poison. Delusion, envy, jealousy. Why must we continue like this? When will it end? Perhaps this goes on forever and ever. Yes, this world will be destroyed and a new eden will be created only to go through the same cycles of bliss and honeymoons to all end in destruction when the wickedness of man (which is in all of us) wins the battle.
But there is kindness and goodness within us all as well. How do we change the world? How do we stop from destroying all we see. It’s easier than you think. It’s start with you. Yes, you, only you. Only one person. Each choice you make. Each choice we make ripples in this lake of life.
No, I cannot suck up all the particles in the air to create a heaven on earth once again in an instant. But one moment has a larger impact than you think. Walk to work. Ride your bike. Buy less plastic. These are small efforts that do make a difference on the consumer level. The big companies change for us. They may tell us what we want, but in the end, they change for us. The consumer. If no one is buying plastic they’re going to stop selling it. Not because it’s good for the earth but because they’re no longer able to make enough profit off of those items. Consumers have power. Use yours wisely.
Now, in matters of the heart and mind. Change can be seen rather quickly and one should never give up hope that there is beauty, love and kindness within each and everyone of us. That may not be what you see in your coworker, your in-law, or your sworn enemy (hey perhaps they are one in the same for you hehe, surely we’ve all been there) but it is there. And we should never give up on one another. For that is when we have let darkness win. Some days are so dark that you forget what the light looks like. But it’s still there. No matter how dark the sky may be, the sun IS still shining. Don’t let the clouds take over your mind and make you forget the beauty and the light that is within us all.

Normally I can see the tower on top of the mountain from my office, but today I just see gray soup. Even the tall buildings only a few kilometers away are obscured.
