Disclaimer:

This post is about medical/recreational cannabis.
I recommend you don't use it.
It could be illegal in your country.
Be careful!

This was the very early morning; Lighting wasn't ideal

Pre-flower

I don't know what exactly qualifies as preflower - especially with the autos, these phases are not as clear cut, it seems.
Anyways, that's the start of female flowers, easily distinguishable by the long white pistils.
I wish these plants grew a little taller first, but then again, I am also not complaining about a quick harvest.

So far that's looking good, but in the picture above, there is something else visible...

Pest

See the white spots?
Something is chewing on the underside of the leaves.
They are tiny green little bugs. Looks like aphids to me.
The camera does not catch them.

Whatever it is: It won't totally ruin the harvest, but it needs attention.

Pest Control

  • Removing the bugs mechanically

Trying that, but my motor-functions are still affected.
I can not really move my hand that well...

  • Removing the leaves

I don't want to - seems too drastic at this stage

  • Insecticide / Insect-repellant

I'll start with the weakest one I know: black tea.

  • Predators

This is outdoors... Pests can come in, but also their predators.
Maybe I am lucky and a ladybug shows up 🐞

I am not too worried... for now...

The Original

Behind the 2 autos, I still have the photo-plant.
It showed some pistils, but is not near pre-flower.
It also shows no signs of bug-damage, at least not any new spots.
It had the same troubles some weeks earlier, but back then my hand was better and I could remove all bugs.

It developed a strong 'herbal' smell now, but does not smell of female cannabis, yet.
However, the strong aroma is probably working as pest-repellant.

It's also outgrowing its pot...
This size would be ideal - If it went into flowering (generative) stage now.
Since it is photoperiodic, this depends on the lighting and I have some light pollution as well.
I hope it starts soon, or this means I'll have to stick to autos for every grow.

Sort:

Have you tried Dawn dish soap and water? I'm not sure about using it on weed plants(haven't tried yet) but I did spray the soap mixture on my purple hull pea plants for aphids. It didn't hurt my plants and I would consider it non toxic.
However, I'm a long time smoker not a grower... Maybe someone else with more experience could tell you if you should try this💯🤗
She still looks good tho🤗

I made a black tea + tobacco brew and sprayed some on.
The brand Dawn is not available here, btw 😂 That's a US thing, I think.

Ah. That's cool. Sucks about dawn brand lol it's the only dish soap I use. (Thanks to my grandma) 🤭

Its some great stuff!

That's what I hear😁 and glad to know! I need to get just to have "just in case".
Y'all are a wealth of information🤗💯🎉

If the plant is not budding yet I would use some insecticidal soap.

The tiny little bugs that are chewing the leaf of the plant needs continually check, so that their attack do not grow to caused a bigger white spots on the plants, I love it, the plants looks so healthy.

Those autos are actually a great size, they should stretch a about half the size they are now in flower. Super Cropping is a great way to train autos. But only if you fell comfortable doing it.

Sounds like you got a good grasp on IPM. I would spray 3 days in a row to disrupt the life cycle of whatever they are.

I see no real point in training them; There is enough airflow as it is and the sun's shining from the side anyways, wandering a good 90 degrees around it for 6-8 hours. Even the lower fan leaves seem to get good light, still.

I feel like they could be much taller, had I transplanted them quicker (or started in a big pot) - also their first 2 weeks they were on a west-balcony, with 3-4 hours of sun, only.

I am occasionally bending and twisting the photo plant.
That was introduced to me as 'hyper-cropping' like 20 years ago 🤣
I never realized, the stem was supposed to stay bent over... I was aiming to produce a callus.
...anyways, it seems to make the stem sturdier and seems to promote thicker growth...
I try to avoid stressing the autos, though...

All 3 plants get blasted by heavy winds from time to time - the balcony is quite high up.

Sounds like you got a good grasp on IPM.

Thanks!
I grow all sorts of stuff. For a long time.
Legal Cannabis is kinda new, but I did extensive research.

Hi ho, I had lice but I battled them with a lot of black tea and also used soap once since they would always come back even with the black tea.

I have never had lice, but maybe it's because I use soap regularily.

I am talking about my plantis not myself -.-

I knew that - I tried to make a joke.
sry😔

nah, good one!

the plant looks so healthly, it is really common se thos spots in the leaves :D
