It wasn't the most comfortable of rides, and Kelly wasn't sure she would volunteer for it again.
Firstly she was sandwiched between two people she barely knew. Her arms snaked around the small boy in front of her who drove the huge motorbike expertly and fast. He still clutched hold of the teddy bear in one hand, one of its ears clasped against the handlebars, it flapped in the wind.
He felt too small, this child. And somewhat unreal.
As she sat beside him, trying not to look at the oncoming traffic over his small frame, she thought about what he had told her he was - a digital human.
What did that mean?
Behind her, Faver sat. His arms were around her and she could sense he was as uncomfortable with the arrangement as she was.
He was a very strange man.
She had the feeling that he had once played an important role, that had left a large footprint on the sands of life. Perhaps he would again.

As usual, I started with the freewrite prompt and used themostdangerouswritingapp.com to write the first five minutes (and then popped it into google docs to check for errors and tidy it up a bit):

I have a story in it called The Still Blood-Soaked Path

I had a comment left on one of my freewrites and I have to say, it made my day!
“Hey I got the book and want to tell you how much I enjoyed your story! Loved the twist at the end… you somehow nearly always manage to produce an unexpected twist... Love the care you take with your characters, intertwining them.” @owasco

Voices In The Darkness is now ALSO available as a paperback!
If you want a taster of what is in the book, the video below shows me reading the first 900 words, or so, of my story, The Tell-Tale Dead

Thanks for making us a beneficiary in your posts, that's extremely commendable man. I'm humbled. I also have never heard of themostdangerouswritingapp.com - is that for real? Afraid to to even check lol!
I can picture all of this, the digital boy in front, Faver behind (I hope his grip on Kelly is firmer than his handshake), Kelly in the middle wondering about both of them and about everything else. Really cool characters as usual.
Interesting concept writing micro like this. Perhaps one day we will get to see it all together in one post! Have a great weekend.
