And, Garbage Piling up on the Road

in #environment8 years ago (edited)

Trash should be disposed of in landfills. Do not throw in any place. As seen in the area of Simpang Jalan Linepipa, Muara Satu District, Lhokseumawe City, Aceh Province. The pile of garbage wrapped in plastic bags is very uncomfortable seen, besides disrupting the flow of traffic.

Rubbish wrapped in plastic bags of various colors, has covered part of the road in the area Simpang Jalan Linepipa, District Muara Satu, Lhokseumawe, Aceh.

I saw a pile of garbage, when stopped at Simpang Linepipa, on the way home, Sunday, January 14, 2018, at 18:20 pm. At the crossroads, less than 100 meters from Building Public Health Center (PUSKESMAS) Muara Satu, crowds gathered to form groups. One of them, a group of lads who relax on their bikes.

Behind the place where a group of young people gathered, there was a road connecting the Banda Aceh-Medan Road with the entrance of PT Perta Arun Gas (PAG) and the Liquefied Natural Gas Processing Factory, to Rancong Beach, Muara Satu District. During this time, local residents use the road as an alternative route to the pond (where fish farming), and to Rancong Beach.

I see that only part of the road can be crossed by a vehicle. While others have been covered with a pile of garbage. Rubbish wrapped in plastic bags of various colors, covering some road bodies along more than 50 meters. This is the first time I've seen that much garbage, which accumulates over the road.

According to some young people who are relaxing at Simpang Jalan Linepipa, the rubbish that covers part of the road is household waste. A young man, claiming to have seen a man riding a motorcycle, dumped the garbage wrapped in a plastic bag on the street, in the morning.

"Since a month ago, garbage has piled up on this road, garbage dumped by people who come on motorcycles. About two weeks ago, a pile of rubbish covered a part of the road for about 30 meters, now it's over 50 meters, "the young man told me.

The young man, who often relaxed at Simpang Jalan Linepipa in the afternoon, said the cleaners had transported some of the trash by truck to a landfill. However, a few days later, garbage again piled up, covering part of the road.

One other man, whom I met at Simpang Jalan Linepipa, said that the pile of garbage wrapped in plastic bags, in addition to damaging the scene, is also prone to bring disease to the local community, if the garbage rots.

Therefore, residents hope the local government immediately act. The trick, attach a board containing the information, that the location of the road, is not a garbage dump. In addition, local governments need to deploy staff to ban residents from dumping trash onto the streets.

Creating a healthy environment, let's dispose of waste in landfills.

Garbage dumping on the road as seen in this picture is the wrong action.

What people do not understand is they are creating their own grave. This act will have -ve effects for those who are either doing it and also those who are not doing anything to stop this from happening or solving the situation.

May be you can pick up responsibility as a challenge and service to the community.
