Hello friends, today I want to show you how I made the helmet of one of the most famous robots in history and one of my favorites together with Mazinger Z. It is the Gundam RX-78 mecha robot from the Gundam series from 1979, if you haven't seen I recommend them, to be very old the proposal that has as its history is great and explores many themes. Beyond that is the wide variety of robots with the RX-78 being the best known. I made this model following the specifications of the helmet. I downloaded an image and was taking part by part to do it. Hope you like.
Hola amigos, hoy quiero enseñarles como hice el casco de uno de los robots más famosos de la historia y uno de mis favoritos junto a Mazinger Z. Se trata del robot mecha Gundam RX-78 de la serie Gundam de 1979, si no la han visto se las recomiendo, para ser muy antigua la propuesta que tiene como historia es genial y explora muchas temáticas. Más allá de eso está la amplia variedad de robots siendo el más conociedo el RX-78. Hice este modelo siguiendo las especificaciones del casco. Descargué una imagen y fui sacando parte por partepara hacerlo. Espero que les guste.
I used a 3D helmet model with the Pepakura program, very useful for creating templates and assembling the pieces. I used 5 cans, 4 of a drink whose color is white, and one of Coke to take advantage of those colors.
Utilicé el modelo de un casco en 3D con el programa Pepakura, muy útil para crear plantillas y armar las piezas. Utilicé 5 latas, 4 de una bebida cuyo color es blanco, y una de coca cola para aprovechar esos colores.
The first part to do arguably is the protector of the nose and mouth area. We cut these two pieces taken from the original model, and we join them together.
La primera parte en hacer podría decirse que es el protector del área de la nariz y la boca. Cortamos estas dos piezas sacadas del modelo original, y las unimos entre ellas.
The next step is to make a base that will go on the inside of the helmet, this base will help us to shape the whole case since it is a central part. To it we are going to join the part that we did previously, then in a piece of black we will make the eyes, we will fold in a circular way and place on the upper part of the base that we made. And we would be like this.
EL siguiente paso es hacer una base que ira en la parte interior del casco, esta base nos ayudara a darle forma a todo el caso ya que es una parte central. A ella vamos a unir la parte que hicimos anteriormente, luego en un retazo de color negro haremos los ojos, doblamos de forma circuluar y colocamos en la aprte superior de la base que hicimos. Y nos quedaría así.
Now we will make all the part of the helmet that protects the head. First we make the upper part, it is made with a template that looks like a flower and then it is glued part by part to make a circular shape, in turn it has ends that protect the sides. Then we will make the part that protects the lower part and the neck, we mold and cut with the scissors and then we join the parts. Then we take both pieces and put one on top of the other, we put glue on it and thus we will have completed this important part.
Ahora haremos toda la parte del casco que protege la cabeza. Primero hacemos la parte superior, esta hecha con una plantilla queparece una flor y que luego se va pegando parte por parte hasta hacer una forma circular, a su vez tiene unos extremos que protege los costados. Luego haremos la parte que protege la parte inferior y el cuello, moldeamos y cortamos con la tijera y luego unimos las partes. Después tomamos ambas piezas y ponemos una encima de la otra, le echamos pegamento y así habremos completado esta parte tan importante.
From this point on we will place the accessories that make the helmet so striking. First we cut a piece in the shape of a headband, it will be placed on the front side and helps protect the robot's eyes. Then we make a headband that goes through the entire half of the helmet, we draw it according to the original model and then we cut it on the can, we assemble it, we fold it and we glue it to join it on the upper part of the helmet.
Desde este punto en adelante colocaremos los accesorios que hacen que el casco sea tan llamativo. Primero cortamos un retazo em forma de cintillo, irá colocado del lado frontal y ayuda a proteger los ojos del robot. Luego fabricamos una diadema que atraviesa toda la mitad del casco, la dibujamos según el modelo original y luego la cortamos sobre la lata, la armamos, la doblamos y le ponemos pegamento para unirla en la parte superior del casco.
Another important accessory is the Gundam emblem that goes on the front, whenever I see this figure it reminds me of the helmet of the armor of the Saint of the Phoenix, from Saint Seiya. We make the template following the original mold, fold each of its parts, paint the small square red and then glue on the part where the headband begins.
Otro accesorio importante es el emblema de Gundam que va en la parte frontal, siempre que veo esta figura me hace recordar el casco de la armadura del Santo del Fenix, de Saint Seiya. Hacemos la plantilla siguiendo el molde orginal, doblamos cada una de sus partes, pintamos el pequeño cuadro de color rojo y luego pegamos en la parte donde comienza la diadema.
The most awaited moment has arrived and it is time to unite the two parts of the helmet that we made by being separated: the face and the head protector. We cut these two small pieces that go on the sides and that work like air vents. We introduce the face inside the helmet, fix very well with hot silicone and we will have finished.
El momento más esperado ha llegado y es hora de unir las dos partes del casco que hicimos por serparado: el rostro y el protector de la cabeza. Cortamos estas dos pequeñas piezas que van en los costados y que funcionan como unas aeroventilas. Introducimos el rostro en la parte interior del casco, fijamos muy bien con silicón caliente y así habremos finalizado.
This is how the helmet of the Gundam RX-78 robot has been completed. In the anime this robot was one of the most powerful and it fought against the enemies of the Federation, who possessed equally powerful robots called Zakus. Gundam is a very important franchise and was a great influence for the mecha genre that later developed. In Japan they made a giant-sized robot, measuring approximately 40 meters tall and moving all its limbs. This anime was not well known in Latin America, I discovered it by pure chance, and since I did I became a big fan. Así ha quedado finalizado el casco del robot Gundam RX-78. En el ánime este robot era el de los más poderosos y que luchaba contra los enemigos de la Federación, quienes poseían a unos robots iguales de poderosos llamados Zakus. Gundam es una franquicia muy importante y fue una gran influencia para el genero mecha que luego se desarrolló. en Japón hicieron un robot de tamaño gigante,, mide aproximadamente 40 metros de alto y mueve todas sus extremidades. Este ánime no fue muy conocido en latinoamerica, yo lo descubrí por pura casualidad, y desde que lo hice me convertpi en un gran fanático. Espero que les haya gustado mi aporte, me gusta mucho hacer miniaturas de mis figuras favoritas de la cultura pop. Me despido hasta pronto, no olviden comentar que tal les ha parecido.
