My 28-year-old younger sis: "It has been one of my biggest dreams to wear a Dinosaur Costume..."
And her wish did come true!
My nephew turned 1 year old just a month ago and the theme of the party was "Safari". All guests were asked to wear any "brown or animal printed" clothing. So my Lil sister grabbed this opportunity to make her dream come true of wearing a dinosaur costume. And guess what? I jumped in on this fun idea without second thoughts! Coz why not?
Most of the guests have kids coming so this thought would surely make them have so much fun. And oh! This was a surprise too! I mean the guests didn't know they were in for a treat!
The party was held at Uptown Suites Cebu - Capitol Site. We came in a little bit early about 5:00 pm and the decoration team was still glamming up the place. So we decided to wait for a bit. Once they were done, we went back to the rooftop and were impressed with how they turned the small room into a bright, lively, child-like space. The huge cut-out animal decoration was a stand-out for me.
While waiting for the other guests to arrive, we started a photoshoot with the birthday boy! He was wearing a very cute Safari explorer costume with a matching tie and hat! His parents, my brother, and my sister-in-law was wearing ranger uniforms too! A well-planned theme!
To be honest, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't remember all of this when he grows up. At least, the parents got fun memories to show him in the future.
So here are some photos we got from the hired photographer. He did us a great job!
We had a grand entrance together with the birthday boy and his parents. And I got it all on a video using my GoPro. (Well, thanks to my cousin 😁) I and my sister were so excited to surprise everybody and so we hid near the bathroom as we changed into our costumes. Unfortunately, as the emcee was about to introduce us, the sound operator kind of played the wrong music and we already revealed ourselves near the doorway. 😅 so it wasn't a surprise anymore but seems like the guests were ecstatic as they all reached for their phones and started to take photos and videos.
As the emcee reintroduced us, we danced our way to the floor. Hell, it was damn fun! We have to set a standard so we were all high with energy as we groove to the upbeat music. Seeing the kids' and the adults' reactions were priceless! They got excited too! One of my cousins even asked my parents if we hired "performers"! And when they found out it was just us "Aunties", they all had a good laugh.
The program was then followed by some games for the kids and the dads. Of course, there were the usual ones like Bring Me, "Pabitin", and the Longest "Happy Birthday" which was funny as some kids are naturally hilarious.
After an hour, we sang a birthday song to our little boy who was already asleep by that time. However, the proud parents were joyous as they blew out the candle for their baby boy. We then had a sumptuous dinner and filled the night with talk and laughter. After the program, our nephews wanted to try the costumes themselves even though we told them the sizes were too big for them. Yet, they still had it their way. Well, they were extremely happy as they became dinosaurs even just for a few minutes!
It was such a joy to see the kids smiling and laughing even the adults joining in the fun was refreshing. Got to unleash my child-like spirit too because of them. I had a blast and enjoyed the night. Though our birthday boy may never really remember this, it was still all worth it to create memories with the family, relatives, and friends. It was one special night to connect with our loved ones and share happiness because of our bundle of joy - Alexander Liam.
Anyways, this blog wouldn't be complete if I don't share a video of how our grand entrance went! Can't help but laugh every time I watch this. Never have I imagined I would do this. But hey, anything for our baby boy!

Now when I think of it, I had a lot of birthday parties when I was also a kid. And just also blessed to have some photos of them to look back at.

Somehow,it reminds me on how we celebrated my son's 1st birthday, the theme was Safari also. Great photos plus great memories equals satisfaction.
My younger sister was the star of the night though. She really embodied the dinosaur character. 😂 To be honest, it was my first time having really fun at a childrens party. I had so much connection made with the children compared to the adults. Its fun to be a kid again (in spirit). haha.

The dinosaur costume I had was a bit smaller so it was a bit tight but it was all well since I'm a short lady 😂. It aint that hot too so I was sweating a little when I had to dance already but other than that it was ok.

Too bad the birthday will not even remember the party but since everyone else will they will just hear from third party accounts of how it went.
Yeah. I've actually wondered before whether its all worth it to spend so much on children parties when kids are 0-4 years since they wont probably able to remember during those years. I guess its not for the memories but for the happiness and joy that everyone else feels at that certain moment in time.
Then you blink and the kids have grown up, they are only interested in the now and what you did back then does not matter since the party is now. LOL.

Well, amazingly, it was so easy to wear and it wasnt that hot too! I think I wore the costume for 30 minutes straight. It was kind of fun.
